Feedback on tooltips and support gem synergy clarity
Hello, I figured I'd give some feedback about the clarity of skill/support gems and how clear you're conveying it.
Context So, I'm a poison build ranger playing around with the new skill and support gem mechanics. I just finished Act 1 so I'm not too deep into it yet. I do appreciate the option to hold alt and inspect the tooltip and look at the keywords. Issue The issue I'm having is with some of the keywords in the tooltips and how you're conveying what is exactly a poison. The reason I'm confused is because the recommended supports for Poisonburst Arrow includes Comorbidity and Corrosion which has the poison keywords in their definition, that makes sense because Poisonburst Arrow specifies it creates a "burst of poison" on hit. But for Vine Arrow, you recommend Bursting Plague and Encumbrance. I see a different icon used under monster health bars so it's a poison and a debuff? If given that logic then I should be able to use Comorbidity with it and I should be able to have 2 plants attach their tendrils to a single mob, but I've tested it to not be the case. The same goes for Toxic Growth as well, I see Comorbidity as well as Corrosion in the recommended gems when Toxic Growth stores poison damage and releases it, but it doesn't specify whether the damage it applies is a poison or just chaos damage. I know Envenom is a thing and probably attaching it to a skill and then expanding on that poison damage with items and support gems gives a ton of build freedom and that's awesome, but the applied damage of these skills themselves aren't very clear and I'd like added clarity on their tooltips with a "poison" keyword or a different set of recommended support gems. Thanks! Last bumped on Dec 16, 2024, 3:07:10 AM

I was about to write a post myself complaining about the EXACT same examples. You aren't alone.
We have to assume Comorbidity means that the growth stores an extra stack of poison, contributing to the explosion damage, though it's hard to say because the DPS info page gives no inclination of it. I mean why else would Comorbidity be recommended for toxic growth, right? And then there is Corrosion which reads like it wouldn't work because it doesn't apply any poisons but I can see the corrosion debuff on enemies when it explodes so the explosion must be counting as 'applied poison'. These tooltips leave out some necessary information. Just wanted to reply to give an extra bump. Last edited by xombie1806#3711 on Dec 10, 2024, 3:35:18 PM

Also just to add; with Poisonburst arrow you would presume it's main DPS is Chaos damage per second equal to 20% of the PHYSICAL and CHAOS damage dealt by the hit that inflicted it.
And yet DPS info is only calculating and displaying both the poison's damage and the arrow's damage as the same - which is just all the main hand damage types added together. Am I missing something? As it is right now It's impossible to read how much damage poison is doing on it's own. Last edited by xombie1806#3711 on Dec 10, 2024, 3:55:56 PM

+1
Also there should be advanced tooltip explainign how different sources of poison work together. How stack of comorbidity works when different source also poisons with a "better" poison. Or maybe comorbidity should work differently: - This skills poison have X% shorter duration - This skills poison can be aplied two times, or as an additional time for poison of a different source. |
