Right now, we have real problem with Exalted orbs. Real salers buying exlated orbs from players, and sell it for large prices, so we have a real problem with that. As i said early, for all of my time i get few exalted droped me from the mobs, chest etc.
Aaron Ciccheli, a guy who made millions running Diablo and PoE RMT sites, owns a significant portion of GGG. How's that for a conflict of interest? 7.5% of your supporter pack money goes to this guy.

I've farmed nearly every area of this game in every difficulty, including level 66-68 maps - and all I have since Open Beta are 3 Chaos Orbs and 2 Blessed Orbs...

what's the point in adding new Orbs, when they'll likely be so rare people will use them as currency only, just like they already do with Exalted and Divine, and even Gem-cutter Prisms?

if only I knew how to use bots or multi-box...

Just a slight modification : It would remove the LAST added pref or suff. Actualy crafting is pain because it's expensive and you can easily have a very bad mod on your ilvl77 item that devaluate it a lot. Removing a random aff/pref would still be problematic (assuming those orbs would be quite rare) I think it would compensate the randomness of crafting and so incitate people to craft. I

In the spoiler my general thoughts about currencies and drop rates (to be delete if you ask for, because off topic) :

I would propose in addition to increase the currency drop rates in 70-72+ maps because of those problems :

- This system makes it very very very long and difficult to get a really good gear, but that's the salt of this game. But it's too much, as you say playing one year and never see an exalt is a problem ...

- Trading helps, but it takes hours and hours staring at the trade chat, while looking on forums, and you can't trade efficiently until you have some valuable items/currency in your stash.

- Rolling a good map is expensive, when you reach the 70-72+ maps, you have to spend a lot on each map to get good mods (good xp and better loot chances), and you are 99,9% sure to not get refund in your map, not even sure to get another 70+ map.

In conclusion yes i totally approve your idea it would really improve the crafting sytem, but in order to globally improve crafting (even with this orb you gonna spend the 'never seen' exalt in an item? Rather than save it to buy a good item later ?) I think they also need to increase currency drop rates in high level maps to have some improvements in the game:

- You will still spend currency on maps, but as you will drop more, your end game map grinding wouldn't be such pain.

- People will start to craft, in addition with your orbs, it will limit inflation of people keeping the exalts only to buy items

- There would be less complaining about RNG crafting because your orb would offer the possibility to rewind your last operation. Of course the orbs you propose would be very very rare.

Th only drawback that i see is "normal" people with a job or anything would see their endgame grinding increasing to a good state (less harder to get good items for maps, not talking about getting OP gear -Kaoms LionEye etc-, or having a 5L/6L). But people who grind 24/7 would become maybe too rich.

I think it would be better if it removed ALL prefixes or ALL suffixes on an item. Not select the mod you want to remove off a single orb. Possibly two separate orbs, one that removes ALL prefix and one that removes ALL suffix. Could make it a random prefix with one orb and a random suffix with another orb too. However, picking what mod you want to remove will not and should not happen.

That kind of orb already exists. It's called a Chaos Orb.

An orb that allows selective removal of affixes doesn't seem particularly bad to me as long as it is rare enough. It wouldn't need to be mirror level rare, either. I mean, even when you remove an affix you still need to Exalt the item and you are still at the whim of the randomness in that regard.

You should probably actually check to see if things drop if you're going to make such claims. I have found 3 GCP, 4 Regal, 10 Regret, ~14 Chaos, over 20 Fusings and an Exalt as well as a Divine. If you've farmed nearly every area in every difficulty you would have found more than 3 Chaos/2 Blessed. I got more than that in Normal difficulty alone.

I've been thinking this exact orb over for months and months. It even has a name: Demonic Orb. Exalted orb drop rates are so low as it is now that I don't think this orb would be a problem either. Such an orb wouldn't be needed if exalted orbs dropped as often as say a gcp.

But since closed beta, and having run dozens of characters into end-game, I've had 3 exalted orbs drop for me.

I wish item customization in this game was not only easier and more fun, but also more expansive. I mean look at just how small the diversity of customized end-game items is. I don't think I need to go into detail on this, as we all know there isn't more than say 4 or 5 basic weapon designs: Phys damage, ele damage, crit, spell damage, spell crit (with some combination of these--attack/cast speed also included.) Armor and jewelry isn't really any different.

ARPGs are all about the items, and I think GGG still has a lot more to explore on this front.

Just my $.02.
