Act 1 mobs should not have mana drain.
I just encountered a hound mob in act 1 (I'm level 13) that had a mana drain aura and moves faster than I could possibly move. Meaning I'm relegated to fighting it and every other mob in the area using a basic attack, and there's literally nothing I can do about it because I can't escape the aura. I should not have to explain to professional game designers why that is a shitty experience that should not exist at this point in the game. I don't know how I could possibly have enough mana regen on this sorceress at this level to counter this mob.
And this is far from the first mana draining mob I've encountered in act 1. It seems to be a quite common ability. This mechanic should not exist in the game until MUCH later, when it is possible to have more mana regen. I do not want to be required to level up and support a basic attack skill just to deal with this specific bullshit. Last bumped on Dec 9, 2024, 5:09:00 PM

" Why not? Basic Attack, and/or basic spell on caster weapons, is a significant resource in this game. This isn't POE1 where basic attack is a forgotten relic of a bygone era. You should absolutely be supporting your basic attack skill, and in the case of a sorceress you would likely benefit more than the melee or archer classes do from having a second weapon set for a second basic attack whether or not you're using the weapon for anything else. As a crossbow Pathfinder, basic attack is an integral part of my kit. I just started a Sorceress last night to play with a friend new to the game, and I can already see myself keeping a second weapon specifically to pick up a second cantrip-level spell. Mana Drain enemies are only one reason, but they're a very good reason. if you're not using Glaciation elsewhere, a Gelid staff with Freezing Shards > Glaciation would be a useful off-swap for situations where you're mana screwed. Can also use Lifetap to set up one of your spells to cast using life instead of mana. To be sure, Mana Drain enemies are frustrating. But if the monsters can't ever threaten you, why even play the game? She/Her
