THE TRADE SYSTEM SUCKS.

Last Epoch has shown that solo players and traders can exist together in the same world.

PoE takes heavy inspiration from D2 and GGG devsfelt that many features of D2 (including trading, scrolls, inventory tetris etc.) were perfection.

There is speculation that auction house style instant buyout for items might be introduced in PoE1.

No idea how AH is working out in PoE2 but it can be an indicator if this will be good/bad.

i really like how LE made a solution that rewards "no trade" players. LE used to be my jam, all until i realized that some of the strongest gear are gated behind one of their uber bosses.

this in a way penalizes non SSF players. trade will always be king. a weaker player can always trade for some of the strongest uniques in the game (exclusive drops from an uber boss) without needing to actually kill the boss themselves.

its also easier to just simply pay a buckets load of gold to get a specific unique that you want.

A lot of people have been saying the trade system is bad for years. Long before PoE 2 early access were launched.

But PoE 1 white knights always defended it. Back and forth. For years. All sorts of excuses.

the original intent was that if trade was bad, players would rather farm more than actually engage in trade.

which actually is good. unfortunately the game's drop rates is balanced around trade and players no lifing this game. besides harvest league, never have i actually felt the urge to craft anything myself.

also i do feel that its really against the players best interest that trade was made bad. scams happen because of our old trade system. fake listings can happen because automated trades are not implemented.

ggg's stance on getting scammed? youre a big boy, dont get scammed! fuck. i really resent that ggg really doesnt give a flying fuck about players getting scammed. we always see people posting about being scammed on reddit/forums etc its not new. and ggg is OK with it.

also price manipulation. most people dont know how much an item is worth. if they check the trade site and see 20 listings of the item which are undervalued, of course they might get the idea the item is supposed to be worth that much. and when they sell at that price, it gets bought out almost immediately. only later do they realize they got a bad deal.

but we all "love" poe so much we play the game even tho GGG is happy to let such things happen to their players.

1. You make it sound like trade is the worst thing in the world. The majority of trades executed go off with little to no friction.

2. The fact that you don't craft says lots about the validity of your opinion, but has very little bearing on the topic at hand.

3. You resent GGG for expecting you to know what you're doing with your own items? GGG has implemented perfectly functional anti-scam mechanics into trade (forcing you to mouse over an item to un-grey the trade buttton). Your inability to pay attention or lack of motivation to do 30 seconds of research before making a sale/purchase should not/is not GGG's problem.

If 1 is true, then why keep the friction? Your own point strongly suggests there is no function to it.

Cant have it both ways, either trade system provides friction keeping people from enjoying trade by being extremely annoying, or its frictionless and therefore pointless to make people meet face to face like its 1995 Everquest.

WTF are you talking about? I didnt even weigh in on my opinion of the trade system, I just stated observations.

As someone who came up playing OG runescape, standing in falador while people spammed chat bubbles of WTS/WTB above their MS paint bodies, I can confidently say trade is pretty good in POE.

It is amazing! i hope this will come to poe1 aswell, no interruptions during gameplay, you put your items for sale in your store, then people can teleport via the tradesite to your vendor.

About that "teleporting to your hideout" feature...how is the lag for YOU when they come to your hideout and you are in it? Since everyone is loaded with computer-crashing MTX with goblin troupe on top, isn't your hideout now the last place you want to be?
