Arrived at Cruel, what I liked and what I hated (map, traveling, ui, combat etc)

Just arrived at Cruel act1. I have not played poe1 much in the past few years but besides that, here is what I want to say about poe2.
I did enjoy the boss fights as it gave them a change. I did not mind bit slower combat but I absolute hated (so much) how these maps force you to back track and walk slowly around the map trying to find the extra objectives. It started in act2 and got extremely bad in act3. I did also enjoy how the game looks and the variety of enemies. Abilities and skills felt smooth. +We did not have long ques. Quest objectives and entrances/waypoints/checkpoints should show up in map from long distance, less change of walking right past them. Give us an ability to warp to checkpoints if its been visited this reset, 1 waypoint in maps of this size are just lol. It will help a little, but honestly the map size needs to be smaller and you must have some out of combat travel ability because this is just sad how its done currently (I can see how being faster wont work that well for some boss fights so I understand the slow speed "choice", but its so horrible outside of combat). Early game needs some combat movement ability that lets you move small distance through obstacles or monsters, sometimes you just get stuck in a bush that is for some reason a wall and monsters block you (or you just get too greedy :') ). Having some ability with 30seconds cooldown that cannot be used in boss fight would really be useful because sometimes you or the game just fucks up. The gem system is fine so far, besides bit pain to find supports gems that work but are not "recommended", the UI when choosing support gems should show that nice popup of which of your current skills gems it supports. It does show that once the support gem is in your inventory, but why not show it while choosing from the list too? The map and how objectives are shown, why are they just little bit greyed out instead of having some highlighter color that disappears when its completed? Some map backgrounds just blend in with it, make it clearer by giving uncomplete objectives blue highlight! Also a BUG.

act3 town wont let you go back to the last parts of the act, gateway takes you to cruel act1 instead of end of act3. I have sacrificial heart in my inventory that I cant deposit, delete or complete the quest as I cant travel to end of act3...
So I did enjoy this but the walking out of combat killed it all, you just have to do so much of it right now unless you accidentally arrive at right places. RIP for now. Please change the backtracking bs with side objectives, do something about _out of combat_ movement speeds. Last bumped on Dec 9, 2024, 8:25:31 AM
