I had the same issue with CPU spiking constantly. Joining empty global/trade chats fixed the issue. Even with the chats hidden it still spiked the CPU every time a message was sent to the channels.

" well try to 1 ) delete log file in game folder 2) or type /clear in chat every X amount of time and also join global/trade channels liek 9234, so it wouldnt connect to other populated ones, cause have a feeling it still logs their chats even of u are not using them. This will help u |

" I really didn't expect this to work, because it sounds so damn 'out there' and 'this can't POSSIBLY be the thing that's overloading my CPU', but yup, switching to #200+ for Global and Trade chat fixed my CPU spike crashes as well. This is about as dumb as it is hilarious. In either case, thanks! |

Fixed my issues as well (chat swapping), thanks!

I found a solution for myself (xeon e5 2650 v4). Poe 2 cannot use processor cores completely normally, as it is written in the topic.
So 1 download ThrottleStop 2 install it 3 change Clock Mod to 1 left arrow ( 100 => 93.75% ) 4 Press the Save button ( don't forget to Turn On ) Everything should work without PROCESSOR spikes If it didn't help, then in the same program 1 go to section C2 or C1 (you may have a different value) Expand the list ( Right Arrows ) 2 Change the Package C State icon to - C1 3 Press C States - AC and mark Off 4 Click Apply After these actions, everything should work. |

Just found this thread via search engine and despite my reservations simply leaving global 1 and trade 1 fixed my spiking, I can't believe it.
Thanks! |

dude, thank you for making this post, and even more for your reply about the root cause. been dealing with stutters for such a long time and changing to unpopulated chat channels made all the difference, alleviates the biggest annoyance the game presents for me.

The chat bug dates back to POE1, it's at least 8yrs old at this point.
