Eldritch Battery bug
Eldritch battery doesn't seem to be converting properly. With 441 shield I only get 262 more mana. Unless there is a hidden cap or diminishing returns it seems like a bug.
Edit: It could be the case that flat buffs to energy shield are counted but percentage buffs are only applied after the conversion. I don't know if that is intended or not. Last edited by letdreamsbememes#6996 on Dec 8, 2024, 11:55:32 PM Last bumped on Jan 7, 2025, 1:57:27 AM

Same problem here, % to ES does not work with eldritch battery, i don't think it's like it should be. One more thing, using unique chest - Ghostwrithe you still have a bunch of ES left, despite having Eldtitch battery.

This is correct. Converting in PoE2 happens "before" % modifiers, and converted stats only benefit from modifeirs to what they are, not what they used to be.
If you convert your Energy Shield to Mana, then it is Mana, and increases to Mana apply to it, not increases to Energy Shield.
@Mark would conversion be counted?
like convert life to es to mana? |

" Hello, I'd like to know the answer to the previous question by Reaked too. Should conversion to conversion work? I feel like it should, or in the particular case of Eldritch Battery as it says "ALL" Energy Shield will get converted to Mana. (Life to ES to Mana) |

All conversion happens simultaneously, so it can't chain. Otherwise we'd have infinite loops if you were converting A to B and also converting B to A.
The only exception is conversion of damage on skills, where damage conversion on a skill from it's own active skill gem applies first, then other conversion applies afterwards, which allows attacks that innately convert physical damage to other types to effectively act as "local" to the gem so they can interact with gear that further converts those damage types.
" Thank you for replying and answering. It's just confusing when the wording for Eldritch Battery says "Converts All Energy Shield to Mana" yet we still end up with Energy Shield due to a piece of gear or otherwise. Hence why I see a lot of questions about it on discord and bug reports. As a new player it felt pretty bad to read that and going for it when I received the unique, only to find out that all of my Energy Shield didn't get converted. It also wasn't clear that all conversions happens simultaneously. As I had to try it out myself to see if it was instead converting in a A to B to C manner. I think changing the wording to "Converts All Base Energy Shield to Mana" would take out a lot of the confusion people have around it. Anyways, it's a minor issue as I can easily respec away from it, just felt bad in the moment. Otherwise I'm loving the game, thank you. |

" Everlasting Gaze is kinda useless on Archmage mana stacking then... I think a lot of people are assuming the conversion is gonna happen from Mana to ES then ES to Mana again then stop from there. The item is kinda expensive rn on trade due to this maybe or I'm just missing some kind of interaction why its priced the way it is xD |

Do the nodes that increase the energy shield gained from certain items (foci) trigger before the conversion of ES to Mana from eldrich battery?
Because that would be one way to stack massive amounts of mana. These increases aren't global but specific to an item. I would assume it goes like this: 100 es on a foci. => 150% increased es gained from foci. => 250 es gained on character => converted to mana. Or is it this: 100 es on a foci. => 100 es gained on character from foci => es converted to mana => 150% increased es from the foci (but its 0 now because its mana). These are important questions Mark! |

" I'm only a baby Archmage myself, but my understanding is that with MoM EB your first and last layer of defense is having mana, lots of it. Adding any Armour or Eva that could be instead have been ES (mana) and give you damage and 'hp' doesn't make sense. Gaze lets you gain a quarter of that whole bunch of mana as extra ES, that's a lot of extra HP for a minimal investment in some ES recharge node on the tree. The only real downside is the loss of Spirit and res from the amulet slot. Last edited by ExiledOnCore#3435 on Dec 12, 2024, 1:35:56 PM
