RathBreaker vs. Character Progression Feedback

Hey GGG!

So I've been progressing well with my character so far. I've been happy with my damage, though it's a little low, and my ability to deal with the circumstances thrown at me. However, the RathBreaker fight that introduces Act 2 was a gigantic step up for me. The number and frequency of hyenas in that fight require a build that has high clear damage. The hyenas on their own are fine, Rathbreaker on their own is fine, but add the two together, along with the heavy hitting off screen damage from the northern ledges to consider, and you have a fight that can be pretty impossible with many combinations of skills that are introduced to the character by this point. Of course, there are skills that can do the content; many people have passed this fight. But unless the intention of this fight is to require the character to have excellent clear damage, many of the skills introduced to this point are not good enough for this fight.

I started off as a sorcerer because I want to be a Chronomancer with lots of minions. The majority of my skill points are travel nodes attempting to reach minion clusters. I'm level 18. I have tried many minion skills and the only one that come close to being efficient is SRS. My skeletons can barely survive few seconds of the fight, and there's no way for me to consistently make corpses for other minions. I've tried many different combinations of skills and my only option is turning out to be a complete respect.

This isn't a complaint. I'm just not sure what the intention of the fight is. At level 17-19, is the idea that I'm supposed to have a very good idea of what I want my build to be? Am I supposed to have excellent clear damage by this point otherwise I shouldn't progress? Or is this fight still part of the character progression where l, though difficult, should have a chance at the fight despite still exploring some skills?

I don't feel like I've done anything wrong with this character, and I've been progressing well against all content to this point, but I feel like I have to use certain skills with certain investments to pass it.

(In the community that I hang out with, they emphasize that I need to stay on the above plateau of the boss fight so I don't get overwhelmed by the hyenas. I always fight on the top plateau and never go down below, and the hyenas keep coming to the top plateau. I'm pretty sure I'm fighting the fight the way that I'm supposed to.)

Anyway, just some feedback for testing. I feel like I'm required to use certain skills to progress into act 2.

I will be submitting a refund request to Steam for POE 2. Since ACT 2 Rathbreaker is designed to be a skill check (if that is what you want to call it) to progress any further in the game, then good luck with that!
