Struggling with MELEE? *hold* attack buttons
|
TLDR - if you are struggling with MELEE, especially warrior.. try HOLDING the attack buttons until the attack finishes. This causes you to "power through" little swarms of enemies that are hitting you.. where if you just "press" the button briefly, the enemies will cancel your attack for some reason..
If you prefer "tapping" buttons (like me), then melee combat presently feels "broken" and "heavy", and I hope they fix this.. but until then, just hold the buttons and enjoy the carnage. Long Version: I played monk and ranger to level 20, then went back to re-play every class from start, to see if it really was hard after I well understood the mechanics.. and in a nutshell, it was pretty darn easy. I walked directly to the tangle boss in grelwood, doing nothing but equipping crap gear and potions and training skills, and killed him handedly on every class. I had the most trouble with warrior, and what I learned is that the *controls* are what is tripping up people, especially on MELEE, especially on WARRIOR. There is a weird behavior where when you briefly press an attack button, that attack somehow "gives up" if an enemy touches you with any attack.. but if you HOLD the attack button, your character "powers through" the enemies. I think this behavior is bonkers and has no benefit, and I wrote a thread about how I think they should change it... but until they do, if you simply get in the habit of HOLDING down your attacks in melee, you will power through the enemies and not get into that weird state where you are repeatedly pressing your attacks but the enemies ontop of you are cancelling them. Happy hunting Exiles. Read more here: Feedback: how to fix melee. Last edited by KuroSF#6521 on Dec 8, 2024, 2:18:17 PM Last bumped on Dec 8, 2024, 2:11:57 PM
