Trial of Chaos Crash

So far Trial of Chaos has crashed on me every time between trials 2 and 3.

Playing Monk seems to happen when getting dogpiled.

Will try avoiding grasping vines on next attempt as some have mentioned.

Same here, never been able to complete this at this time, crashes every time on one stage or another. Two times at room 4 boss and several times in earlier rooms. Have tried to pick various mechanics but nothing seems to help at the moment.

Can agree that these crashes seem to occur when there is "a lot going on", never when I'm between rooms or so.

So I managed to solve this in some way, unfortunately I changed a lot of parameters at the same time and can't be sure what exactly solved it.

1) I downgraded my Nvidia driver from 566.36 to 566.14
2) I changed my settings to following:

• Renderer: DX12
• Mode: Fullscreen
• VSync: Off
• Dynamic Resolution: On
• Upscaler: NIS & No upscale
• Sharpness: 0%
• HDR: Off
• Texture Quality: High
• 16X Anisotropic Filtering
• Lighting: Shadows
• Shadow qual: Low
• Sun Shadow Qual: High
• Number of lights: Medium
• Bloom: 100%
• Water detail: HIgh
• Nvidia reflex: Off
• FPS Capped
• Triple Buffering: Off
• Dynamic Culling: Off
• Engine multithreading: On

If I had to bet money on something I'd wager the driver did the job, or maybe changing the Lighting setting from Global illumination to Shadows only.

Ran several runs without a crash, used Vines and all sorts of debuffs, no issues anymore. Hope it helps someone.
I am not sure if it is a driver version issue. I disabled Triple Buffering and Nvidia Reflex with latest driver version and the game did not crash since.

Perhaps they hotfixed the issue. I'm 99,9% certain that I disabled triple-buffering and Nvidia reflex before downgrading the driver and doing all that jazz and still got crashes. Nevertheless, happy to hear that it seems to work now!
I'll try disabling those, had two VERY good runs of trial of chaos crash on me :I

€: Crashed a THIRD time... Yeah just not gonna do the trial anymore, this is unplayable.
Dominating Blow, albeit a tad clunky, is the most fun I've had in PoE.

Trial of Chaos crashing consistently. The only area I've received crashes so far. Room 1, grasping vines, Room 2, turrets, then crash. Merc.

Having the same issue on Vulkan. Trial crash is regular occurrence among my discord server also.

GPU: AMD Radeon 6800xt
CPU: AMD 5800X

Dynamic culling and dynamic scaling: ON
Triple buffering: ON
VSYNC: OFF
Target FPS: 60
FPS cap: 120
FSR quality setting.

Shader pre-caching via Steam enabled.

Using an Ultrawide and playing on windowed mode 1440p.

OS is virtualized Windows 10 but this also happens on my actual Windows 10 boot.


My crash usually happens when I am walking down and to the right (probably just chance) and encounters are getting loaded. Either a boss or a bunch of new mobs for a Vaal soul core trial, or new mobs coming down an elevator, etc.

Anyone who has tried settings that seem to work: please post them.
