Zalmarath, The Colossus Hitbox as Melee

Currently trying to fight Zalmarath as a warrior and the attackable hitboxes are terrible - at best there is a tiny area on each arm that takes damage, and the arms aren't in range 80% of the time.

Can be standing right in front of his chest and doing zero damage. The attackable hitboxes really need to be looked at.

Finally got it down, took around 7mins of basic attacks, as only basic attacks could reliably hit the boss on the right arm, anywhere else zero damage.

Seconding that this fight is super wonky as melee. Lots of difficulty landing hits when swinging away. I don't mind the game's difficulty when it works, but this is clearly not working.
Yeah the behaviour certainly is strange, I feel that sometimes you're able to hit the main body, but other times just the hand even though both seem in range. Maybe have it so that when you target the boss, your character auto-targets the nearest hitbox instead of where you aim.
Just finished him, most reliable to me was hitting his left palm with perfect strike. Anything else was pointless.
Trying this fight now and definitely feels buggy as melee. His hit box is hard to hit and is wildly inconsistent. Also sometimes he'll just randomly teleport you around the arena if he tries to do something at a place you're going.
yeah this boss is weird, I will never understand why they make giant bosses and you can only hit them in the nails.
It seems like the only place he has hitboxes is on his arms, which I'm not sure if that's intended.

Using Armor Piercing Rounds doesn't build up anything towards their armor breaking unless you hit the arms.

Unfortunately, I'm playing on controller and it auto aims to the chest, so I break their armor go for a hit and it hits the chest for 0 damage

Agree, I'm currently stuck on this boss since controller keeps auto attacking his chest. I'm using molten blast and if it doesn't hit the hand at a certain angle, I'm missing. Changed my whole build just for this fight.
I also had trouble with the fight because of the wonky hitboxes. I felt I couldn't control my character most of the time as I was pushed randomly around the arena even though the Colossus's arms were far away. On the other hand every now and then I dropped into the bottom of the arena where the Colossus stands, and of course the adds also sometimes dropped into the abyss so I couldn't even target them. I was able to finish the fight but it felt more like luck with the hitbox RNG than skill.

It seems it could be a cool fight but it's very krangled right now.

He’s really wonky as melee right now especially with rolling slam. I glitched up onto his back and then he stabbed down his dagger and I got instantly killed. I think he’s a bunch of units stapled together and gets desynched by forced move skills and melee targeting snapping.
