Loving the Game (PC Might Explode)
First off, I love this game. I was hyped like a little schoolboy while awaiting this release. Now, after playing, I feel like a little schoolboy again. There is a lot of tapped nostalgia in the exploration and sense of discovery. The sub-levels you stumble upon while exploring are similar to Diablo 2. The art direction is fantastic. It's very old-school, and yet, there's a lot that feels new, innovative, and genre-defying.
My only major issue is the fact that my computer is really struggling. Load times are at least 30 seconds when entering new zones, and I see the spinning gears and falling embers for a bit when loading in. I get 20 FPS in town, making portals back to town a little more punishing. I have a GTX 1070 and an i5 6500k. I know these specs are kind of on the low end. Unfortunately, I just fractured my knee at work, so I'm dealing with the glacial worker's compensation process and I don't really have much money for upgrades. What would a good upgrade path for me be? I kind of think I need to upgrade the entire mobo, CPU, and gfx card to notice a big impact, but maybe there's a cheaper route. " I would go with any modern AMD 8 core CPU, reuse your DDR4 RAM (if thats what you have as 6500k supports both DDR3 - 4). And for GPU, for a better experience I would go with Nvidia and use like 50% of your budget here because it's gonna mke the biggest improvement. If money is tight just focus on gaming at 1080p so something like a RTX 4060Ti would be ideal for you. or skip all that and just get a Nvidia GEforce Now sub and use cloud gaming or the Xbox one. Saves you a ton of money This post was sponsored by me. Last edited by DetonatorLoki#3683 on Dec 7, 2024, 1:28:25 PM

Yea, I was looking into Geforce Now today, actually. I saw there's a 50% off promotion, so I figured I'd try it out.

Turn on VSYNC and lower your foreground FPS.

Problem with GeForce Now is, that it only supports the steam version atm.
I am playing the standalone Version, and do not plan on changing that. :-( |
