Way too many skills are acquired on weapons



If we could take maybe 50% or more of the skills that are only found on weapons and make them just normal gems that we can choose on our own that would be wonderful.

Being forced to into equipping a certain weapon just to use a certain skill (especially when that skill historically didn't require any weapon type in PoE1) feels very bad.

Could we please reconsider this design decision and just free up some, if not all of these?

I understand bow attacks only for bows, and slam attacks only for weapons that can slam, but already the sheer number of weapons that have "Grants Skill: [Skill That Shouldn't Be Associated With A Weapon Type LOL]" is troubling and off-putting and makes me feel like I no longer have freedom to play the game my way, but instead I must surrender my build's creativity in order to squeeze into a predefined mold. Path of Exile has never done that before. Why start now?

Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years.
There are also WAY too many skills that can ONLY be used with one weapon type.

It does not feel Path of Exile like, it feels too shoe horned in and on rails.

Maybe I want to play a monk but dual wield 1h maces instead of using a quarterstaff. NOPE. Cant. REQUIRES QUARTERSTAFF
