Add uncut gems to vendors
Finished Act 1 and I find that I often cant correct my gem choices for builds because I cant get the uncut gems for the skills I need. This is especially true for spirit gems since all you can get is 1 in act 1, and being stuck in an area hoping for it to drop does not feel good. This compounds with the difficulty spike in the second half of act 1 and now I feel I should reroll my summoner character just so I can pick the SRS gem. This just brings back the problem of lookng up a build guide being mandatory to do the Acts back in POE1.
Please add some uncut gems in the vendors, even if they have to be locked behind quests or cost lots of gold. Last bumped on Dec 25, 2024, 6:41:47 AM

That would make them too easy to obtain, now that gems don't need XP for high levels

" +1 The higher level gems can be sold at later Acts in the Campaign. At higher prices than lower level ones. eg. Level 1 gems are like 200 gold, Level 10 gems are 10000 gold or something like that. This give gold another use besides respec and gambling. This would also wipe out the secondary market for standard gems with 2 slots but the benefit is it would greatly improve build diversity and experimentation with combinations which is what the new combat system is emphasising. As it stands now, without the ability to buy uncut gems, players will stick to build guides religiously and not risk what little gems they do have on experimentation. That or create short lived mule characters to farm various gems like the hard-to-get spirit gems from the campaign. |

" Have a slightly different experience. Yeah it can slightly difficult on the first run, but now on HCSSF, after making multiple characters, i'm sitting at 0 exalts, 0 regals, and 1.5 tabs full of gems i don't know what to do with. I mean i could try corrupting those but i got 2 vaal orbs, so... |

This is a campaign only issue I'm afraid. When you're in maps, skill gems drop left and right and you have no use of them. This is another example of a system that's not properly thought through but now everyone is forced to put up with it.
Endgame design pushes you into the meta builds so you're only using a few skills and the higher level the skills are the more mana cost.Like for my witch I'm deliberately using my curses on lower levels because on-level means so much more mana cost with no meaningful upgrade (0.2 second longer curse duration, ha ha) and the curse support gems like +area of effect or add DoT damage don't scale at all with skill level so there's no upside to upgrade curse skill gems. Another factor is attribute requirements of skills are pretty high, but your character has nowhere near enough progression in attributes to keep up, so for example my witch during campaign can easily equip some STR/INT or DEX/INT gear, but now I'm pure INT and even then I need to seek out some INT nodes on the passive tree and equip 2-3 pieces of gear with INT on them just to use the on-level skill gems of my main skills. Result? I have so many lv14 onwards skill gems and lv3 support gems I don't know what to do with them. I don't need them, and hell no I'm not levelling another character through this slog of a campaign, and I can't reforge them to a higher tier or sell them in the currency exchange. So they basically become vendor trash I guess? Yeah, such good design. |
