PS5 dualsense triggers not functioning on PC
Using a PS5 dualsense controller on PC, the triggers (L2/ R2) are completely non-functional as action buttons. All the other buttons seem to work fine.
They don't work at all, even in the stash menu for "sort tabs" Last edited by Strangehill#1736 on Dec 7, 2024, 6:41:32 AM Last bumped on Jan 2, 2025, 3:08:48 PM

works fine for me, you should make sure your controller is setup properly in steam and test if inputs are being picked up.
I haven't had to do anything personally just plug and play Last edited by 45s#5219 on Dec 7, 2024, 6:56:26 AM

They're fine in all other games, I'm not using the steam client, just the in game options but yes they're registering fine in steam test

I'm seeing the same thing on my PS5 gamepad with Steam running.

Yeah same thing keeps happening for me, the R2/L2 buttons just decide not to work. It doesn't happen in game i.e. if they're working at the start they will do for the full time I'm on. Today I played earlier no problem, have logged back in and they're not working. Last time I remedied it by reconnecting my fiddling with the input detection settings and double checked steam was picking up my controller fine too. The first time this happened (a couple of days ago) I did get it to work again but unhelpfully I can't remember the combination of things I did to get there.

The only difference I do remember is in the in game controller settings in the drop down box, the first time there was 'Dualsense' and 'xbox controller' as options, and it was on the wrong setting, I selected the right one and it worked. Today however there's only Dualsense or None. So that might be a clue as to where it's going wrong?

" Okay I found a solution - in Steam I clicked on the controller button located on the game's Library page, top right under the banner (cog, controller, info, star) I didn't change any of the mapped buttons, but it did seem to 'wake' Steam up so when I clicked Play it showed me a prompt warning me about compatiblity etc. Then I used my controller as normal through the menu - this time there were XBox symbols so I went into the ingame menu and changed the overlay to Dualsense ones. Shoulder buttons are working fine, and noticably so is the controller's vibration, which also goes when the shoulder buttons aren't working. Sorry for the multiple posts, but hope this helps. |

I'm not using the steam launcher so would prefer if the game behaves right rather than having to switch, but yes it seems this is intermittent, using xinput does make it behave less oddly
I have however bought an 8bitdo PS4 controller and it works great, battery lasts all day and has paddles |

Same here, triggers L2 / R2 on PS5 Dualsense do not work.
Dualshock PS4 Controller works just fine. |
