Died _after_ boss encounter, items gone

also happens if one dies in a quest area. I don't like it.
Yes, this is bogus. had this happen a bit later with a different boss.

boos died
saw cool loot drop
got killed by some minion
after resurrect boss dies again and only drops the quest item and nothing more.

every other item that drops in the game is still there when you die. why not the best items from a boss?
this needs to be fixed. I hate it.
It makes so little sense that loot disappears on death that I figured it must be a bug. This is an obvious change that needs to happen asap. Loot should never disappear.
Someone posted something last night about dying at the same time, or right after, they killed a boss. You won't get credit for it because of the console mechanics they insisted on plaguing PC players with. Any loot is gone, maps are reset, and you don't get credit for the kill. I suspect this also happens even with mini bosses, and it's just funky as hell.

If you look up at the green buttons in this forum in the upper right hand side, they remind you that they had to implement console features because half of the platforms they support are indeed consoles. I am not a console player and don't care for checkpoints and map resetting in my games at all. The same goes for auto-aiming, which cannot be turned off.
So I died and could see a chaos orb drop. Of course I know it will be gone. What is the fun in this? I don't get it.
I can somewhat get that mobs respawn. I guess the thinking is that one dies because one is weak and killing them again grants xp to level up, making you stronger.

But why is the loot gone on death? No one likes this.
Have to agree, killed a boss and a unique dropped but died to a dot and everything was gone. If it's an intended game design then it's the dumbest sh*t i've ever seen, if it's not intended then please fix it.
Yes to this I had the same thing happen to me.
It's obviously better if we never see loot drops in the first place if we happen to die before the boss, so we don't suffer psychological loss. We should also be given the option to retry the fight instead of being forced to progress without being rewarded. ARPGs are ultimately about loot rewards after all, and we're happy to earn them properly.

I'm of the opinion that if we die, then no progression and no rewards. Seeing the loot drops only for them to disappear whilst being forced to progress is just pernicious design that engenders negative emotion. A lesser evil would be seeing nothing drop (as a consequence of dying) but still allowing progression.
