Evasion Per Frenzy Charge + Iron Reflexes bug?
Not sure if it's a bug, but it's more of a curiosity on how GGG does number crunching when converting evasion to armor. I guess it's also the wording on 'Evasion Per Frenzy Charge' is misleading or just gets more confusing when having Iron reflexes?
Scenario: I'm a level 64 Duelist that have these notable passives: Iron Reflexes Evasion Per Frenzy Charge. Relevant Skills: Grace (Level 16) I currently have: a max of 5 frenzy charges. + 52% Increase in Armor + 40% Increase in Evasion and Armor + 53.8% Increase Evasion from Dexterity Calculations: (before frenzy charges) Base Evasion: [53 + 3*64](base) + 1147(Level 16 Grace) = 1392 Evasion Modified Evasion with Dexterity: 1392 * (1 + 0.538) = 2140.896 Evasion Rating === Base Armor (Iron Reflexes) Note: tried just adding up all the percentages, but that gave me a much lower calculation, so I had to conclude the above is done first. Modified Armor with + Armor% and + (Evasion Rating & Armor)%: 2140.896 * (1 + 0.52 + 0.40) = 4110.52032 (rounded up) = 4111 Armor Rating The above values is exactly what I see on my character sheet. (after frenzy charges) with 5 frenzy charges I ended up having 4389 Armor Rating which struck me a little odd. From what I can tell, It's just 278 (1392*.20 rounded down) added to the end of my Armor. Following my calculations, I think I should get the additional 20% increase to my Evasion Rating/Armor in the Evasion Rating Percentage Increases. This would increase my armor to 4645 ([1392 * (1 + 0.538 + 0.20)] * (1 + 0.52 + 0.40)), which I think makes more sense. In the end, I'm just trying to make my CI + Multi Flicker Strike build survive better in Merciless and don't know if going higher Evasion Rating or Endurance charges would be better (trying to do both)... lol. I love this game and it definitely brings the power gamer/number cruncher out of me :D Last edited by ezikieo#1116 on Apr 28, 2013, 11:14:52 AM

"+53.8% Increase Evasion from Dexterity"
This rounds to 53%. You gain 1% per 5 points, not 0.2% per 1 point. :) "Base Evasion: [53 + 3*64]" It's 50+(lv*3). Minor differences, but you wanted to know how GGG does the numbercrunching :P The formula for just about anything is: (base+flat) * (increased+reduced) * more * less For Evasion under Iron Reflexes, it's: (50 + (lv*3) + gear + buffs) * (Increased Evasion + Increased Armor-and-Evasion + Increased Armor) * More Armor = Armor-Rating-from-Evasion Which is then simply added to your regular Armor Rating, which is calculated as follows: (gear + buffs) * (Increased Armor-and-Evasion + Increased Armor) * More Armor = Armor Rating With the numbers you provide, your Armor total would be: 1389 * (1 + (52/100) + (40/100) + (53/100)) = 3403.05 Armor Frenzy Charges would boost it to 1389 * (1 + (52/100) + (40/100) + (53/100) + (20/100)) = 3680.85 Armor Sure you don't have some Evasion and/or Armor on any of your gear? Yup, I'm pretty sure...
I got the duelist starting evasion rating from here: http://en.pathofexilewiki.com/wiki/Duelist Not sure if updated or not, but 53 + 3*lvl worked for my calculations and the numbers I'm seeing. I gained a level, but the calculation still holds similarly true: Before Frenzy Armor = [1395 * (1.538)] * (1 + .52 + .40) = 4119.3792 ~ 4120 After Frenzy Armor = 4120 + 1395*0.20 = 4399 BTW, rounding the 53.8 up or down will cause the calculation to be off by a few. Rounding up Before Frenzy = 4124.736 Rounding down Before Frenzy = 4097.952 Last edited by ezikieo#1116 on Apr 29, 2013, 3:42:12 AM

Oh man,
Completely forgot that I have an additional +50% to evasion rating and Energy Shield. But still, it doesn't make too much sense if we followed your calculations either: Base Evasion Rating: 1392 = 50 + 3*65 + 1147 Armor: 1392 * (1 + (52/100) + (40/100) + (53/100) + (50/100)) = 4106.4 Armor We are further off by 14 points here. I remember reading somewhere that when a character has Iron Reflexes, you do not get the additional benefit from Evasion Rating and Armor Passive Nodes just half of it... Is this the same for Evasion Rating and Energy Shield Passive Nodes? Where I do not get the Evasion Rating part added to my armor? Hopefully someone can clarify here. |

" You do get the full benefit. However, you don't get the benefit *twice*, is the point :) The way people like to interpret Leather and Steel is that it first applies to your Evasion, then Evasion is converted to Armor, and Leather and Steel is applied a second time. Leather and Steel is a one-line description (not counting the Armor penalty stuff), and as such is just a single modifier. A single modifier can only be applied once. With Iron Reflexes, the Armor Rating formula is not changed; Armor Rating does not benefit from Evasion-specific bonuses. The only differences in the Evasion Rating formula, is that it now also benefits from Increased/More Armor, and that it outputs as Armor Rating. From: (53 + (lv*3) + gear + buffs) * (Increased Evasion + Increased Armor-and-Evasion) = Evasion Rating To: (53 + (lv*3) + gear + buffs) * (Increased Evasion + Increased Armor-and-Evasion + Increased Armor) * More Armor = Armor Rating-from-Evasion Leather and Steel is applied once in both formulae. ----------------- I recall using 50+lv*3 and it working out within a tiny error margin, but maybe my memory (and the Mechanics thread) is off? Not altogether unlikely. 53 + 3*65 + 1147 = 1395 1395 * (1 + (52/100) + (40/100) + (53/100) + (50/100)) = 4115.25 Armor Rating With Frenzy Charges: 1395 * (1 + (52/100) + (40/100) + (53/100) + (50/100) + (20/100)) = 4394.25 Armor Rating. Both are off by exactly 5 Armor Rating, which is acceptable to me :P |

Thanks Vipermagi for responding to this. I appreciate your contributions!
I think the formulas that you have provided makes sense. When I get home later today, I'm going to see if the values are pretty close with a piece of armor that has evasion and armor rating when using the equations for validation. |
