Is there a way to get my support gem back when I destroy the old weapon?

I put two support gem on the weapon skill and then I change the weapon and destroy the old one, without noticing the gem didn't transfer to my new weapon.

just equip a second weapon again?
gems arent socketed in your weapons anymore age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
