Nah these arent similar scenarios.
There was nothing to do in end game so people left.
Which is funny because now, even with a raid, there is nothing STILL to do in end game. And m3s are dead.
POE has plenty to do, people just need to reevaluate how they approach this game instead of trying to play afk.
making the jump from "hey some of this is nutty and will drive lots of people away" to "people want to play afk" is an incredible example of a bad faith argument.
Been browsing reddit and the forums for an hour, it's mostly bad faith arguments honestly. It's early access and I have faith GGG will address issues for the common player.

respectfully, im willing to bet i played a lot more of it than you did and through more stages of its development.
a certain type of player wanted things a certain way and said shit like "just leave' to anyone who didnt share their niche opinions.
the developers made the mistake of catering to those niches, the people that were told to "Just leave" did, and the game is now dead.

If most peopel struggle in ACT 1 they won't get to the end game. There isa reason POE1 decided to become easier and why ruthless lacks a playerbase
If you struggle in Act 1 then you need to simply just get good. There really is no nice way to put it.
Games not the problem. This is a player issue. Whether its build, or positioning, or a combination of both.
If you want to play afk, not think, turn your brain off... etc.. there are other games out there for you. GGG made it clear they want engaging combat and thats what we got.
Up to you how you want to go.
1)Throw your hands up in the air and quit blaming the game
2)Or putting ego aside and either asking for help, or trying something different.

I don't know what nice way to put it, but. The game isn't going to stay like this. It's early access, and things will only get easier.
Sorry.

again with the bad faith.
there's a word for those that intentionally manipulate context to suit their narrative.

Well hopefully not I am seeing a similarity of the complaints to like the 6th complaint about AN.
The first 2 nerfs ill give but at some point its on the players to start doing things differently.
This is just one of those cases.
Games not for everyone though, as it should be. Thats how you get Blizzard products XD.

The fact that ruthless has almost no playerbase shows that people do not want something painfully hard or unrewarding. The fact that POE1 switched form being hard with lower loot drops to to easier with more loot drops shows what people actually wanted.
Tried different things. Merc was piss easy. Witch was a pain. The biggest difference? Merc got gear drops, the witch didn't.
How about you put your ego aside and look at the fact that POE1 already tried this and changed because it was not what people wanted and still do not want.
I like the difficulty, it will just kill the game since it is so dependent on getting gear or not at the beginning. There is a reason souls games do not have rng gear and gear as a pretty small effect on your ability to kill a boss (at least far less than player skill).

Wrong quote but I am guessing its for me.
If you are having problem getting gear ... for Act 1 its not the games fault.
That is at such a low expression level that you have to be just outright ignoring things on the ground if thats the case.
But anyways it sounds like you are progressing which is good news.
Good luck to whatever you try next!

Players aren't infallible and neither are developers. Players might suck but things might also need to be tweaked on GGG's end. I'm not saying the players have gotten anywhere close to optimized with their builds, but it's a very common experience to the point that maybe it threatens the health of the game in the long-term. I got to Act 3 as a Titan Warrior, and am not feeling much like continuing at the moment. Only have a few regals and exalts lying around, but my slams have not been kind recently, so my weapon is behind. Might make a monk and mess around with that.
We can see where things shake out in the next few weeks. I might stick around, but overall, I'm more disappointed in the readiness of fellow players to devalue and invalidate other players' negative experiences.

How is trouble with gear not the games fault? Everything about gear is RNG. With less dropping, meaning less gold and less orbs, and extending the time it takes for the law of averages average out. This is a fundamental design flaw in a game that pushes player skill while tieing so much of the player power to gear. It creates massive huge swings in power and can literally wreck a character before a build even has a chance to come online. It will push far more people away than it brings in.
