Absolutely disapointed -- This game is hard, and not in a fun way.

The game is absolutely fantastic! Of course, it needs a bit of fine-tuning here and there, but I’m having an amazing time. Yes, it’s difficult, but that’s exactly how it should be. People have gotten too used to builds, handholding, guides, and everything being easy. I played Diablo 1 and 2, and I believe those games achieved such massive success and became so inspirational because they came out in a time before YouTube and build guides. Back then, you had to think, experiment, and figure things out yourself. For the first time since Diablo 2’s release – that’s 24 years – I’ve felt that same feeling again.

Thank you GGG for making this happen. You’re the best!

+1 to OP
Overtuned game with an annoying campaign, no telegraphed one-shots, terrible loot, and no fun at all. I thought Diablo 4 was bad, but this is far worse. Uninstalled in Act 2 and not coming back.

It's early access mate.
I don't bloody like it either, hell I dropped it after 11 hours.
But writing the game off at this point is premature. I would be happy to come back and give it another go once GGG course correct.

There are the bones of a good ARPG here, but the numbers are all way off.

Because It's early access, that's why we are here to tell the developer what we want as a player, if it's official release people would just quit.

I too grew up play D1 and D2. Neither were as harsh as this game, and POE1 moved away from something as difficult as D2 since even that was deemed to niche for the market appeal they wanted. POE1's ruthless is is unpopular for a reason.
I agreed with OP when I started as minion witch, but after trying ice sorceress I have revised my opinion (chill and freeze trivialize the content).

Minions in the early game are the worst I've seen in any game that has minions, and I play minion builds in every game (arpg or otherwise) that has the option. I fully suspect that this will be the case with many skills/builds in the current state of EA.

Much of this early dissatisfaction with the game may just be early balance issues that will be addressed during the course of EA (we can hope this doesnt just mean nerfing cold damage, but I'm doubtful)

Seems like some people need to go to the build categorie..
My witch just melt all the bosses like a french cheese during a "fondue".

Just look Asmongold video. He died x time when trying to rush. And then just changed for a necromancer, took time in building his character and now he is melting all the bosses easy.

Developer if you read this. Your game is too easy.

Proof : just look for hardcore player on youtube.
They have passed the act 2 whitout dying.

If you think this easy game is too hard. Look at the mirror, you have made a mistake somwhere and need to fix it.

Ps: Developers said that we can skip some bosses and come back to them when we are more powerful. Maybe do something like that

GG dude, now do the same thing with a melee, then send me a video for sure.. I'm also playing a minion witch, and i guess it's S or A tier currently.. But for marauders or monks, it's another story.

Been playing PoE1 since it came out, absolutely my most beloved game of all times. I am 33 and hardly have the time to spend a working week just to get past the campaign. Also it feels underwhelming, at the very least, to be punished for choosing a melee and have 100 deaths by the end of Act 2, where my friends casually have 10, as they are casters/ranged. Honestly, I am very sad as to what happened for PoE2, I do not like that souls-like merge and the direction you guys took, it really pains me if things are going in that direction.

1. Make campaign shorter
2. Balance all classes
3. Add more loot/diversity in itemization
4. Check animation locking/speed of some skills, feels disgusting to be stuck
5. Check skills object placement, sometimes skills just take mana but vanish in thin air, not dealing dmg.

Hey, dude, i know it's not the perfect reply, but i'm a huge fan of poe too, and i'm 33 too btw x).. To be honest, i helped some melees to do the campaign.. I guess the scaling of melee builds is better in "late" game.. So, try to get help to kill the bosses, because yes, some bosses needs a nerf.. Don't forget poe2 can be played in multiplayer ;)

Just my two cents. I love the game, playing non-stop since launch.

I want the game to be difficult as well. I want to build my character up to the challenges. I want my actions to have meaning. However game is too difficult from the start. There is no way to react to this. You can't have gear, skill points enough to respond. I think there should be a scaling of difficulty between acts. God forbid we will probably have 10 acts of this to level every season? Then farm the end game content? Which would be more difficult then what we have? It will ruin the re- playability. I think there should be a balance between the two. Let's see what future holds.

Also thanks you GGG for all your work.
acts 1-3 POE 1 > acts 1-3 POE 2

+1 op, not spending a $ on this game for this current state, and dont come at me with "oooOoooh but it's eArlY AcCessS", if that's a taste of what is coming, jesus christ, so help me GOD.

POE CLASSIC still is the best ARPG ever made.

LOGOFF
All i hear is crying that you cant one shot bosses xD.

I'm haveing fun and i am one of the "unskilled" people.

I got myself some help for the act 1 boss. Cause my build was bad for that.
Rathbreaker was the first boss that i truly struggled with, till i chatted in global a bit and found out.... i just need to dodgeroll aroun him. Stick close to him and not go to the ledge.

Died 2 times more then i bombed that centaur xD.
Felt really good to beat that. Even gotten my first unique that's actually usefull.

Just go play pOE 1.
