Same here. Of course, I checked the spam folder. And it's clear from the number of reports of this issue that it's not a "spam folder" issue at all.
This is such a ballbuster and disappointing experience, to be honest. Those who cared enough to come here and report the issue in the forums are definitely a minority, so who knows how many thousands are being blocked from accessing the game they paid for because of this issue? Why force players to link accounts before they can play the game?! Personally, I'd have been happy walking around the world with a name like "Guest#2356" and my progress being saved on a temporary account until I received that damned email! Grinding Gear Games should've allowed us to access the game and play with "guest" accounts until we link our Steam accounts to our Path of Exile accounts. Then, after linking, the progress is copied from the guest account to the linked account. So, the game could've shown us a message like, "You can access the game and play with a guest name and account, but your progress won't be secured online until you've linked your Steam account to your Path of Exile account." This would've been much more graceful than holding our game access hostage for an email that never arrives promptly. Alternatively, why not just link both accounts within the browser if we're logged into both accounts on the same browser?! This is standard practice in many mobile games, for example, when logging in with your Google account. Why force us to wait for an email that may be delayed or lost in spam?! Alternatively, again, why didn't you walk us through the linking process right after paying for early access?! You should've displayed or sent those of us who bought early access a message saying that we'll have to link our Steam and PoE accounts before we can play, so it's better to do this immediately after purchase before the day of release. Grinding Gear Games had multiple ways of doing this right, and it's not related to the game design, but it's just as important — if not more, because it has to do with consumer rights and being fair to your customers and fan base. I'm not a celebrity, but I was actually trying to stream an authentic first-impression experience, just playing the game for the first time and not knowing what to expect at all. I had to end the stream without playing anything obviously, after waiting long enough for that email. Grinding Gear Games has done many things well in Path of Exile 2, but this experience really is very disappointing. It leaves such a bad taste in the mouth, and completely busts the hype that I had for the game and for playing the game. I feel extremely disappointed, especially because I was very excited to play the early access version on the day of its release. Last edited by Rok#2188 on Dec 6, 2024, 8:54:49 PM
