can we merge our poe1 account with steam now? or not until login?

i played poe1 with the standalone client this whole time, never had to merge with my steam account. i downloaded poe2 on steam so im wondering how my accounts will merge so i have access to my hats and stash tabs? anyone know if its something i can do right now? or will steam prompt me for my poe1 login when i get in there?

If you check your "my account" (under the home tab) and choose "manage account" you should be able to link your account to steam.

Or add an email-address if you login with your steam account on the website.
