PoE 2 won't work on Windows 7?

Trying to start the PoE 2 client, and getting an error:
The procedure entry point GetOverlappedResultEx could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll

From what I can find out, GetOverlappedResultEx is only available in Windows 8 and earlier. Windows 7 uses GetOverlappedResult

Does anyone know a work around for this?

If GeForceNow works on windows 7 that is a (maybe not good) work around.
IGN : Reamus
I CAN think of a workaround, but I don't think you'll like it..

No, it is not.

so how the hell is OP able to connect his machine to the network without ISP kicking him out?

You can still connect any old PC to the internet....it's not supported by Microsoft for updates etc, or by new games.

not where i'm from. huge security risk for the network. I would get booted and my connection suspended within seconds.

I can see that for a work/business network for sure, that is a *network* security risk. I would not allow an old PC with an old OS onto a work network. As for an individual with his or her own old PC? Only a risk to him/herself.

well i'm not in info-sec but its what i was told, and it was a individual connection with only 1 machine. something about entry point allowing the use of peripherals and modems. the speed of the reaction would make me doubt it was some marketing ploy to force you to update, sounded pretty serious

I swear that some ISPs have numpties working for them. Scared of hackers and script kiddies ;)

Thumb drives and laptops are the culprit of choice, and it is usually a third party vendor working for the company that lets or puts malware into the system. It isn't OS related at all. Ransomware is the big risk, and many large companies with supposedly competent network admins get taken regularly.

These ransomware attacks are hundreds of millions of dollars every year.
