GGG - address the removal of regional pricing
How the hell can you be so blatantly indifferent to player feedback? What would a single acknowledgement cost you?
You pulled off something very scummy and those actions should bother everyone throwing money your way. It would be great to have a pro-consumer, transparent company behind these awesome games, but you've done everything to the contrary this past week. This isn't just about stealthily doubling prices and ignoring everyone questioning the reason, but it's also about building trust with your community. Gamers should support a company when that support is warranted; here it seems everyone is just one more wallet. You still have regional pricing for some countries but decided to ignore a huge portion of your playerbase who is now supposed to pay first world prices with third world wages. GGG is terrible at communication, we know this. You take your community for granted, disrespect genuine concern, ignore feedback, etc. This is a honeymoon phase for supporters because of POE2's release but for a decade prior you've dropped the ball time and time again. If you love these games you should be appalled by the blatant indifference GGG holds towards its consumers (who are the reason they had the opportunity to make a second game). The fact that the most basic acknowledgement of regional pricing and the hundreds of thousands of players affected by its removal has not yet occurred is baffling only until you realize they're far more interested in your money than your satisfaction. What a disappointment. Last bumped on Dec 6, 2024, 8:07:38 AM

They did not remove regional pricing. The changed from a purchase power parity model to monetary parity model. There is a lot of possible tipping points for the decision to do that, and based on the timing my guess is it was fraud related to the ancillary digital keys in the packs (you can put this into the ruined by idiots category), but it could have also been volatility in monetary markets, it could have been that Valve only updates the purchase power parity suggested pricing every few years and it was just easier to implement a monetary parity model than to wait for valve to update their suggested pricing in regions, it could be they wanted greater transparency, it could have been an attempt to minimize some other kind of arbitrage (like say currency sellers and botters consistently buy a set package for their bots via fraud and the bank says they'd have better jurisdiction if they were accepting payment in the US dollar), it could have also just been the fact that the goods they're selling are worth what they say they are worth and if you want them then you'll have to meet their price. I don't know what the tipping point was, I doubt it was revenue optimization but it could have been. I'd be thrilled if their global marketing exec could chime in on it and tell us the full story, or if they do ever share the full story let us know which magazine that interview is going to be in or if they're writing a textbook maybe put it there.
But in the meantime, if you want to get into the poe2 hole you're gonna have to pay the toll. IGN : Reamus

For me, regional prices should not exist. (because I think that there should be no exploitation in the world) And while it is sad that people in part of the world earn very badly, it is not the game developer who should solve the economic problems of this world. Of course, you are aware that many YouTubers or players with stuffed wallets created accounts for themselves to play 10 games of cost one from their country using regional prices from 3rd world countries. And that is not a scam? World never was Fair and from the look never will be.I understand that you expect GGG to be an expert in economic fields and to know the specifications and economic capabilities of every country in the world. You demand to be treated fairly, but are you fair to the developer in your opinion, maybe it would be worth thinking about that?
