Skills that Hits Support Gems

I wondered if support gems that says "Support any skill that hits enemies" will work on spells like Arc, Ball Lightning, etc., that doesn't explicitly use "Hit" anywhere in their description.

Righteous Fire does not hit, it is a PBAOE degen effect.
Bane does not hit, it applies a degen in an area. Curses do not hit, they apply a debuff. The best way I've figured out to test what is or is not a hit is if it will break a pot it is a hit, if it will not break a pot it is not a hit. IGN : Reamus

I'm aware. Would be nice if somebody would spend some of that sweet sweet core supporter pack money and make it make sense.
