No, because of the option to download the vast part of the patch via torrent way before it becomes available on steam

And well, also to be independent from steam. Playing an online game, dependent on another cloud platform is in general not a good idea :-)

Nothing against steam, I have a bunch of games on it. But if I can play without the steam client, that gets more and more resource hungry, I'll do it :-)
