Free-to-play should mean something and this early access is nothing more than a double-dip in the players wallets. First with paid access and then by charging for stash tabs and other essential purchases, all while hiding behind semantics and deceptive marketing tactics. The early access comes with points to buy stash tabs with, and also PoE1 tabs carry over to PoE2. But yes, it is a paid release in not much of a disguise, and it's apparently because GGG has made an absolutely massive investment into PoE2, and so they need to recover some of it else the company might well get into financial trouble. GGG over the course of the 1st month was giving keys away through streamers/website and other places so i expect to see that happening as well at some point. wouldnt be surprised if say Razer or somebody has like 5k+ keys to giveaway this christmas as thats been a common thing with Razer before. I think there is a high FOMO factor at play here as well that some people can feel as being "forced" into paying for access. Early access will last at least 6 months, probably more. At the same time GGG runs a bissniss and have the whole shareholder side to please as well, not just the players. So this is how they balance it out. I think it is fine.
