Neither game is nearly fun enough to ignore all the feedback regarding unskippable campaigns.
For me the biggest pain with the POE1 campaign has always been how long it takes to complete, and how linear it feels (procedural maps help a bit with that.)
I'd say skipping isn't necessary, as long as there's some variety, or choice, to do the campaign - like Elden Ring where you can go off and do something else if you get stuck or feel like something different. That, and allowing for practice and alt gearing to reduce run time, would help a lot. |

" It is but it isn't. Along about 3.9 was when they announced poe2 was going to be a really big expansion to Path of Exile, and that from that point forward any time anybody piped up with complaints about the campaign they were told "JUST WAIT FOR POE2 IT WILL SOLVE YOUR COMPLAINTS" and we waited and waited and waited and then they announced POE2 isn't going to be part of POE1. Now people are trying to pretend that GGG never changes their mind about anything and have never designed around their own internal philosophy in order to address feedback before. Now, I'm of the mind that POE2 didn't address the fundamental feedback since now you have not only a story but a bunch of other bosses that are mandatory for the stat buffs and that the ballooning of mandatory chores in the campaign experience is going to increase fatigue and therefore shorten the amount of time it takes people to reach the conclusion that some streamlining is preferred. We're going to get to test my assumption very soon. You can adjust the campaign experience without adjusting the campaign itself as well, there is some low hanging fruit there. Just giving people an innate movement speed buff when there aren't enemies around could be a hugely positive change, and would certainly go a long way toward making people feel like the wind is at their backs. I don't think that change, in and of itself, would be enough but something like that is small, relatively easy to implement, and most importantly... not nothing. I am not asking for the entire world, just enough of it to sustain me. IGN : Reamus
