Loosing currency by playing? Are you sure you were playing PoE? Care to elaborate HOW exackly you were "loosing while playing"?
And how exackly that mirror changed that?

There are strategies that I would call Lottery strats where the cost per map is higher than what you are getting back per map but give you a chance at a big ticket drop. Like fishing for high value div cards. If RNG is unkind it is perfectly normal to lose currency from a strat like that.
Hell, with a small enough sample size or terrible RNG every strat can be unprofitable. You run a div strongbox strat and get no tings thats a few div gone. Say you get unlucky and run 20 maps without hitting and you are many divs in the hole. If you hit 4 brothers stashes though you are back in the money. With a large enough sample size it will even out.
I was running at a loss on a strongbox strat. You know however that every diviners or arcanists has a chance to drop something huge and earn back all your losses. Dropped 2 mirrors from an arcanists yesterday while I was approx 10 div in the red due to terrible RNG before that.
It's a coincidence 100%. I can only assume that the strat OP was running was one that has very little low value, high porbability return and relies on big hits to be profitable which it will be given enough runs.

Makes a lot of sense, Impiousbe. Would be interesting to hear what specific strategies OP was using to lose currency. A lot of strats are very stable, while others (as you mention) require more upfront cost. Profit crafting is another one of those where you could go "I invested all these divines and all I got is this one item" LOL.
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

I think those a rare situations. If you invest it will give back evetually.
And to loose currency you need to own currency.

Yes, it can be.

Nice, you can now look at the mirror and reflect to what happened. :)

What do you mean by «eventually» if not «always» ?
But even with a positive expected value and a big sample size there's always a (perhaps tiny) chance of losing it all :

It means that in long enought period of time everything is possible. And that some things just will happen.
