Doesn`t surprise me that they are making some kind of progress, but I really don`t care about Diablo III anymore.

First, this article was written by someone of lesser intelligence, with many pieces of evidence even within the first few lines to support this assertion.
Skidrow put out a basic server emulator, of which MANY have been in development even from BEFORE D3 was in beta. These projects have had a lot of support, a lot of pre-planning, and simply waited to interface with the game client. The tough part is now getting the server to not .. well... suck. Right now it's bare bones... but theoretically over time it may become superior to the blizzard servers, as there are no restrictions then to community content and mods.
