Ambush Scarab of Potency not working as intended

WHen using this scarab and you have a strongbox which has the explicit mod: "drops 3 additional XX scarabs" it still just drops 3 scarabs, intended behaviour should be that the box now drops 5 scarabs.

Or do i completely misunderstand what this scarab is supposed to do?
