Reduce Enemy Block Chance While Using a Sword

because its easy to get those nodes, its not a waste at all even if it wasn't subtracted, it would actually make block builds useless in pvp if it was

after nerf it would be 45% * 75% which will be make blocker's chance to 42%, which is still good, because I myself wasted around 20 points to max block
getting up to 70% reduction to block isnt hard at all especially for a ranger, and any other class can get up to 45% in way less than the points it takes to get up to 75%

and no, block builds aren't OP, it requires an eye of chayula, reducing hp by 20%, or we'll be stunlocked to death without unwavering stance, which is another 8 points to waste
even with a kaoms, the dps being a block build will be way to low due to lack of a 5l or 6l

tl;dr block builds do low damage due to the amount of points invested in block chance, making this nerf a nice balance

edit: dont forget viper strike, a skill that NEVER misses (the effect), even with 75% chaos res i get wore down by it because i don't have enough dps

Man, I haven' t seen this stat in ages.
After some investigation, it turns out this one was missed during the big standardisation of stat descriptions, and as such it's description does not match it's functionality - it's not a % reduction to block chance, it's a subtraction.

Quarl and I agree this is probably too powerful, and the functionality will be being changed to match the wording, such that it's actually reducing the block chance by a percentage of it's value, not just subtracting 85% (if you get both clusters).

Thanks to everyone for bringing this to my attention so we could fix it.

Please rewamp x2 block reduction passives on dex sword nodes cluster for physical armor penetration with swords
it will give a life for fast low base damage rapiers and be usefull not only in pvp.

that's a pretty good idea.

The way the points are currently is game breaking. I think even if they match the description of the passive and reduce 50 block by 45% = 22.5 is insanely powerful. If you look at the tree there is another 3 nodes to pick up for an additional 50% block chance reduction, these nodes are located in the lower duelist sword branch and ranger side around weapon elemental damage and IR. These 6 nodes total 95% block chance reduction. This is still too much imo for high lvl pvp but the way the trees are set up, it makes it near impossible to utilize all of the nodes for low level 28 dueling. This is a good thing because u can still make builds with a few of the nodes and really waste no passives getting to either one of these clusters of block chance reduction. This block % reduction still adds a immense advantage against dozens of other builds even at lvl 28.

just to clarify, some of my previous math was wrong. There is a total of 6 nodes and it is possible to get 100% reduced enemy block chance. The node in the duelist sword branch is a cornerstone for 15% reduced enemy block chance and 15% increased phys damage, and is called deft blade.

I have something quite crucial to add. [lv28pvp]
I currently have the best 1v1 character for level 28 pvp (sc) and use both -block nodes and this shield. So i feel asif i have some credibility in this opinion. A facebreaker actually beat me before i had the -block nodes, then i changed to -30% block nodes and once again there is almost no challenge, although i generally lose at least 2 rounds per game.

Aswell as -15 flat block per node, this item is severely over powered. 40% block should not be a given, as well as the shield being pretty much ideal for the vast majority of 1h builds.

Shields should give alot less block in general, the only thing that doesn't make block incredibly broken is the ministun each time the block affect is activated.

-15 flat block is far too strong, but so is block. Block should still be strong if you determine your build around it, but it should not be so easily accessible.

the difference between the shield and the sword -15 block nodes is that alot of builds can choose to opt for a defensive build, and go shield, while the nodes being way too overpowered with 1 build type, giving it an advantage over the rest. The shield may be too strong forcing many builds to incorporate it but the nodes for -15% chance to block are game breaking since it creates 1 elite build.

I honestly think that the -15 block nodes shouldnt be specified to just swords and the sword nodes as a whole should be pretty much overhauled. Bows should get the chance to pierce block and so should other weapons but on a much smaller scale than the nodes currently allow.

Sounds to me like a bunch of pussies that are crying because they got beat....holy fuck man. This ain't D3.
You want nerfs and buffs? Go play some D3 with the other 20 people that still do.
I agree that the block nodes need to be nerfed. But only to what they were meant to be.
Facebreaker gets mad because someone beat him??? GET OVER IT!
YOU ARE A FACEBREAKER. EVERYONE GETS MAD WHEN YOU BEAT THEM!!
Maybe the next guy will say nerf facebreakers. They do too much dmg. Unique shield with 40% block is op nerf it....
Everyone in this game has their counterpart. Get over it.
........sept bear traps. Fuck bear traps. They are that annoying fly that keeps landing on your nose and won't go away.
