Reduce Enemy Block Chance While Using a Sword

I am lookin at a couple of these nodes on the skill tree and with just a few nodes u can get up to 45% enemy block chance reduction while not even straying far from the common path on a few builds.

My main question about these nodes are-
-Is this meant for pve or created with pvp in mind?

-Is the reduction reducing the block chance as a whole or relative to its current rating? IE, 45% reduce block - 40% chance to block= -5% chance to block or is it 45%reduction x 40%block chance= 18% reduction - 40%chance to block- 22% chance overall block?

-Can you overcap block rate to overcommon the reduce chance to block skills?


If the reduction was the latter of the 2 I almost think the skills would be fair but still strong since so many builds use block and 3 nodes is way to easy to shut down half those builds down.

A good fix for the skill would be to spread the % of reduction out across more nodes, or put it in a spot where it requires more nodes before hand rather than right in the middle of 2 strong skill trees, or a huge fix which makes more sense is to make it reduction of enemies block while dual wielding swords. The reason I say the last reason as a good fix is, the build which uses the reduction of enemies block cant build HUGE block itself.

The wording reduced implies it is relative, so if you have 44% to block and your opponent has 45% reduced chance to block enemy attacks, then your block chance against him is 44*0.45=19.8

It is probably with PvP in mind as there aren't a lot of monsters with block chance. Blackguards in the Barracks have it and the unique guy in Marketplace.

Are they OP ? Maybe. But if they are something will be introduced to counter them, since this is where PvP in PoE will be heading - introducing counters to OP builds.

According to the mechanics thread block chance is capped at 75%, so the max block you can achieve is 75*0.45=33.75 ( assuming your opponent has 45% reduced enemy block chance with swords ).

its capped at 75% but what I still wonder is if u can overcap it like res. With curses reducing your resistances u can still overcap them to fight against the curse. They both have the same wording so that leaves me to think u can overcap block rate.

From what I understand the reduced enemy block chance nodes take the whole value. So an enemy with 40% block chance against a 45% reduced enemy block chance dude will end up with 0% block.

Yes it's strong but there are counters. If you face someone with these nodes go 2 handed to increase your damage output to help compensate. I've done this with melee and caster (double wand/crit dagger).

As a facebreaker build, switch to a quiver for example.

I hope this isnt true because thats WAY over the top destroys most casters, easily any dualwielders block rate, staff builds, and other 1 hander shield builds. BTW quiver would not be enough unless u had dodge and ALOT of health/res and attack speed.

waste of points though
IMO swords need these nodes because they are the weakest, but fastest type of weapon in the game in most cases. so that means block usually affects sword wielders more than the average melee class. Becides how many people do you see using a sword in pvp every day? dont be mad because theres a counter to your counter build.
