A walk only key mapping
|
Yea I played Diablo III and I am posing here because I think this game can turn out much better..
Anyway the move only keybind felt really good to use since when you need to get out of an ugly situation you can just press and hold in the general direction without accidently starting to attack mobs on the way. Keep up the good work GGG : ) |

" You mean a key that would do the opposite of "shift"? Forcing you to move rather than forcing you to stand still? I like the idea. "A tool knows exactly how it is meant to be handled, while the user of the tool can only have an approximate idea." -Milan Kundera

That feeling when; You're being chased by a bunch of fast enemies. You drank a potion. You just need to run around the corner, while your hp heals. You click to move. You're character interprets the click as, "you really, really want to see what's in that urn, on the floor." She takes her time to stomp on the urn. The monsters catch up to you and disembowel you. Your character is now removed from hardcore. ;[

This has been brought up a bunch of times before. Each time it is, I support the idea. I am again in this thread too. :)

Have you removed Asus ROG/GameFirst yet? |

What if it were a basic skill 'Sprint'? Which did exactly that, only movement but also higher speed.
Shift could also be a skill, that increases defenses as well as doing exactly what it does now. Also, it should aim towards the mousepointer, not hitboxes. |

" There is a skill like this. It's called shield bash. Shield bash even pushes aside monsters for you. But i think it would be unfair to only give this mechanic/UI advantage to characters with strength. In fact, it's probably the other characters who need it the most, haha. EDIT: oh, and whirling blades. Last edited by ac429#4687 on Jun 15, 2012, 7:16:25 PM

Yeah but it's not exactly the same.
Those skills target a particular spot and moves towards it. Another escape skill is Leap slam, which is probably the best of them. This kinda skill should just increase speed and make you unable to target anything. If you'd use something, then that should take precedance I suppose. It wouldn't be a skill you'd equip, it would be a basic function. Even the most mobile character would want something like this from time to time and the least mobile character would definately want it. Everyone needs to run away, either defensively, or to a good offensive spot or just for traveling. So I do agree, it's unfair that only some characters can do what all characters should be able to do. It should be an improvement to basic controls. Skill with speed or just basically unable to target while running, I think it's a good idea. |

I think this is coming.

Sorry, I didn't mean to carry a condescending tone, which I realized I kind of did =S
I just don't think it's a good idea to make it a gem, because it then gets attached to a particular attribute (str, dex, int). I mean, like you said, every class would want to use this. Like, if you make it a green gem, won't witches get screwed over? After all, they have wands, and anywhere they click, they're bound to accidentally click on an enemy and shoot, not run. Why force them to take dex, simply for a game mechanic? Okay, but what if we make it blue then? But then, why force marauders to take intelligence? Why force the duelest to go as far as possible, to get this sort of evasion? I think the best solution is to simply use ctrl as the opposite of shift. Or maybe use X, or something. |

Yes, I agree, it would be best if it was something everyone could use.
I was just spicing it up a little :) Never worry, I think we're thinking the same thing, well, nearly. |
