banners and rage - problem with automated General's Cry

so, we got two strong but fiddly mechanics: banners and rage

without investment and by design: banners are easy to use/maintain but difficult to charge, rage is easy to get but hard to sustain

there are certain investments (like %gain of valour or %slower rage degen) - all of these are scarce and expensive. even with maxed both mechanics are still more temporary than permanent buffs

given their power, lore etc - it seems fine

but, as always in POE, where something makes sense, there is something that just disregards all rules, is cheap, and makes everything else stupid

AutoExert + Generals Cry + (rage mastery) gain rage on warcry + (banner mastery) gain valour on warcry + (warcry mastery) warcries have min 10 power (or similar source)


and thats it - with minimal investment into cooldown recovery (tattoo) or other relevant stats you get permanent Rage and very quickly recharging banners. you pick the cheapest clusters, stats on these passives is secondary at most.

and voila, melee 'solved'.

i sadly expect this to quickly become standard with remaining passives having near-zero use. something like Ralakesh Set (you can do it in plethora or ways but why if one is just the best?)

risking wrath and ire of many - General's Cry should not be auto-exertable. it is the root cause of several problems that i call 'shortcut'

Very conflicting with the 2 page essay on why banners are horrible that you made pre launch and now all the sudden they are too op because of a "shortcut"

I believe what the original post is pointing out is that a specific combo makes investment in many different mechanic moot and look pathetic in comparison. That is an issue because it kills build variety and can easily make the new mechanics stale and poses a serious balance issue.

I think we can all agree the Melee changes as a whole are great, but that doesn't mean there are no new issues that need ironing out.

I'd also like to +1 to Banners feeling terrible to use in their baseline state and I genuinely think they are hot-fix worthy.

[removed by support] I perma sustain rage with auto exerts. by using the passive from warcry that you get rage everytime its used its basically maxed out 24/7.

The actual problem lies with enduring cry not giving me endurance charges.

banners are fine too.
