Becomes usable once for 2 seconds when you block a hit
On the new skills, like Crushing Fist, Eviscerate etc. I saw this line
"Becomes usable once for 2 seconds when you block a hit". What's the goal with this line? It seems like it wants to prevent chain spamming it from endless small projectiles from monsters and making it essentially a toggle if you keep the button down, but it's not worded like a cooldown, so I can also understand that if I use it myself, I need to watch the UI very very often (which is a bad idea) or just use it with something that could trigger it (is there a CWDT for attacks now?). Wouldn't it be easier to just call it Trigger tag and change the Trigger to be default 2 seconds cooldown? What am I missing? I am considering returning to the game for melee, but right now I feel baited by bigger numbers only. Last bumped on Jul 24, 2024, 5:06:31 PM

-you block
-now you have 2 seconds where you can use that skill -cooldown -repeat GGG thinks since we have automated flasks now, we can smash other buttons 24/7 |

It's definitely something I wont try. I know I dont want to constantly be looking down to see if I can press that retaliate button. How about now? Now?
Nah, no thanks. |

It's NOT a trigger, retaliation/counter skills no longer happen automatically. They need to be physically "used" to work. As such, the condition makes them "usable" for a certain period of time. Meaning: you have to physically press the skill button after meeting the condition for anything to happen. And you can use them just like any other attack, after unlocking the "usable" time.
TL/DR: completely Dead On Arrival They took one of my all-time favorite archetypes, nerfed it into the ground across a years-long battle against something that was underpowered to begin with.....and then finally just outright removed and killed it. After 12 years of otherwise....the current direction GGG is clearly heading in is NO automation. They want you to press a button everytime you want a single action to happen. I can guarantee more and more of this will come each league. Last edited by jsuslak313#7615 on Jul 24, 2024, 3:43:11 PM

" I am 100% fine with NO automation and HAVING to press a skill in the melee fantasy world. I am 100% AGAINST short time windows, where I don't have enough time to react to use it. 2 seconds is a joke. |

The tldr here is that this shouldn't us playing melee:
![]() Going from flask piano to skill piano isn't an upgrade to the player experience. There are reasons RF and Minions are popular. One of the reasons is ease of play and less moment to moment stress. Like the game is supposed to be enjoyable right? This is definitely a very niche playstyle. Sure, you can increase the window where you can use those skills, and 4-5 seconds is a pretty long time in PoE. But for this playstyle to feel comfortable, the window where you can use these skills needs to be visually or auditively (auditive?) telegraphed more than just an icon in the corner of your screen.
If it gets telegraphed properly, I'm interested. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

My dumbass thought they where triggered skills and i got excited.
Ah well, i wont need to do any research then and just see how long a Minion build will amuse me this league. |

" I think the next level up from that is to just have us roll our faces over the keyboards. No longer having visual stimulate but convert gaming to a more physically engaging past time. |
