Essence farming and 'natural inhabitants'

Greetings Exiles!

I am thoroughly enjoying essence farming with Essence scarab of Calcification, which causes a maps 'rare monsters that are ´Natural Inhabitants´ to be imprisoned in essence crystals. It's quite lucrative, but I want to try and tune it even further. My question is what defines 'natural inhabitants' - besides the obvious, meaning the regular mobs - ? I know that Alva incursions and Jun research rares used to count and were fixed recently, and I know that einhar beasts now actually work. I know that neither legion, expedition, delirium or beyond works, and I know that increasing map pack size causes more mobs on average to become essences. What else?

And are there any map mods that synergizes really well with this strat? I've tried a few maps with mods like map is inhabited by skeletons and didn't really notice much of a difference, but i could be wrong. Increased rare pack size? Map monster variety? or something else entirely?

also, any further tips to increase essences per map not specifically related to natural inhabitants are also appreciated.

Thanks!

If you swap monsters out using the league mechanic, those are no longer considered to be natural inhabitants.

Something you don't have to worry about at all in Standard.
Good tip! I never do that anyway though, since essences bugs with many allflames and causes nothing to drop.
