Feedback from longtime casual player about bosses

For most of you none of this probably matters. While I have played for a pretty long time Im very casual and never really bothered to do endgame bosses. Not ubers, just the normal ones. Also 'everyone' already knows these bosses so what I'm saying might not be anything new or you have different opinion. This is from someone who just made characters to try something new and lost interest quickly by the time I should have been doing bosses.

I also only play SSF and I have never managed to make a build that hits 1mil dps. In fact my best so far has been ~800k. For this league I decided I wanted to finally do the end game bosses and I picked up some meta build I could do in SSF easily. This was zizarans explosive arrows build. Even as badly as Im doing it, it is far past my own builds.

So ... to the bosses now after the disclaimer of my background in poe.

The newer bosses are significantly worse than the older ones. I really liked doing the older ones, but out of the newer ones only one I like is eater of worlds.

Exarch is cool looking and all that, but the fight gets interrupted by this weird ball phase that I have never been able to do properly. I just nuke boss down and he dies before I run out of portals. You arent fighting the boss or anything else during it. It just changes the game into some weird dodge game and not arpg.

Maven memory game. Only one of these endgame bosses I havent killed and I wont be. I simply don't care to grind myself another set of attempts only to die in the similarly weird memory game.


Sure, of the olders ones like shaper, he has the phase where you get teleported into one of the side areas and need to find the miniboss at the end of it. Yet, you are still fighting, your game isnt interrupted by some weird minigame.

Eater of worlds has that touch the balls phase, but thats pretty short and doesn't, at least to me, feel like its interrupting the game.

The best boss I found during this boss exploration thing was Sirus. I liked that one. There were no odd disruptions. Sure you get to run out of the meteor thing and stuff like that, but there are hardly no distruptions and the fight was significantly more badass than exarch or any of the other bosses.


I only do eater because its part of the quest. That I can do. Its not bad.

Maven I attempted only this time and did not complete it. I probably will never do it again because it does not interest me anymore.

Now...

Shaper I want to do again. Thats a cool fight even if its old. The pool placements, timing dodges. ect.
Elder I did not understand what was happening. I guess I should have played the end game during the time it was current content. It had no disruptive phases, but it was odd I was mostly blasting the minions coming from portals while boss sat in middle doing nothing.

Sirus... I want to do sirus again. Coolest mechanics. Coolest effects. Coolest lines. It was fun boss. (Tho I hear its terrible for many builds...)


Did something happen after Sirus? Why did they start designing these odd bosses after Sirus?


I have done the league bosses, like the affliction one. Even it had that odd run through the maze phase. It was annoying. I hardly even understood what happened during the fight.
The sanctum boss is not that bad, but I have never died to it, if I can actually get to it, which is the hard part for me.

I also did the older smaller bosses. Some of these happened in previous leagues and from which I got the idea of doing the "endgame bosses". Should I call them league bosses too?

I was going to write about expedition bosses, oshabi, delve bosses and all these smaller bosses, but I think this is getting too long.

The point being that I feel like the bosses often have some weird gimmick to them the more recent they are. Not all, but those mechanic dont even exist or arent terrible in the olders ones.



This is just some personal feedback who has not done the bosses much or at all. First time feels from most of them.

But......you literally named 3 bosses, and the one in the middle you had problems with. And you like Eater. So you were never okay with the bosses overall to begin with....you just happen to have 3 that you like.

That's pretty common when you think about mechanics. I'm sure you only like about half of the mechanics that have been released too.

Between Eater and Sirus is only 1 boss....Maven. So in reality, you just disliked Maven, much like you disliked Elder.


And perhaps its because out of all the bosses, you named the 3 easiest ones to beat....so you prefer easier bosses to harder ones.
