Difference between Double Strike <-> Dual Strike

I am currently playing a Shadow, and while I used Dual Strike as kind of a main attack, I have recently dropped a Double Strike gem. From what I understand, it does exactly the same thing, the only difference being that Dual Strike attacks two times very fast while Dual Strike is exactly simultaneous.
I wondered if Double Strike just used the main weapon, but since the Skill description shows me stats for both weapons, this doesn't seem to be the case.
With the (at my current level, with Dual Strike being less well leveled) lower Mana cost of Dual Strike, I don't see why anyone would ever use Double Strike, but I'm pretty shure I'm just missing something....but where's the difference? please help.
Double strike attacks twice with the main hand weapon. There are two separate hits, so all "on-hit" effects trigger twice.
Dual strike requires dual wielding, and attacks with both weapons simultaneously. There's only one combined hit from both weapons.

Double strike is much better if you have a two-handed weapon, dual strike is mostly better when dual wielding, depending on weapons/build.

Thank you for bringing double strike displaying both weapons to my attention - I'll get that fixed up.
Thanks for the help, I'll stay with Dual Strike then :)
