Tier 17 Maps - Please Move the Fifth Map Device Slots Back to Legion Content; and Feedback

Today I did my first attempt to T17 maps. For this I set up an atlas tree which uses all available mechanics to reduce damage and buff myself (Huck, Niko, Shrines, no increases of map mod strength, monster deal 25% less damage).

The League Mechanic added
* 100% Hex reflect
* nondamaging Ailment reflect
* 20% Fire Penetration
* other great modifiers

I am playing Arc ignite + Wave of Conviction ignite Elementalist with Shaper of Storms and Flammability. I basically set myself up to die with these additional modifiers with my league starter (not that the map would not have destroyed me anyways without these mods, but I might have found my smugglers cache without these mods and found all my shrines). The Necropolis league mechanic is unavoidable. I have only reduced effect of shock through Pantheon and use Leper's Alms as ailment mitigation as I cannot efford Purity of Elements on top of Grace and Determination. 100% ailment avoidance gear I do not want to craft at this stage as it requires a lot of investment at this point including tedious Essences of Loathing grinding. My ailment mitigation which worked fine until this map is no longer enough when I shock myself on hit with a level 27 Vaal Arc with Cruelty and Unbound Ailments support...

The density is so brutal that I cannot work slowly to the map boss. The Key Stone (Wellspring of Creation) which was intended to reduce difficulty actually increased difficulty as the mobs have 50% more life, and still every pack which hits me, deletes me. There are blue Mobs in this map which had the life regeneration Mod, they healed faster than my ignite burned them.

Truely, my Char is not great, but I am dying to everything in this map in less than a second, as soon as my phasing runs out or I get stuck on something which I cannot see as it is hidden behind giant monsters. I use Grace, Determination and 6k combined life and energy shield which I find hard to improve defensive wise at this stage. I cannot use tab to navigate via the map, since the Map Mods description blocks half of my screen as the text is not line breaking. I need probably 10-20 times more damage to beat the white and blue mobs consistently, but this is not an easy thing to do...


Running this map was the worst encounter in this game I have had so far honestly. I seriously believe, my char is more likely to beat Uber Maven than this map (both probabilities are very small indeed or zero, I am aware). If this map tier were only there for offering Uber Fragments, I would not mind much. But it blocks me to play my character strengths out, as 5 ways Legion farming is a pillar of my (theoretical) league start concept. So, it is a necessity for me to beat it or to leave out one of my farming options.


This encounter did not let me want to improve my char, it invoked the urge of stop playing my char as the discrepancy between possible and required appears to be unresolvable with reasonable efford (both, grinding and theory crafting my build. I do not want to perform a master thesis like research and implementation project to have a char able to beat non-uber content of this game as this is not fun for me personally. I like to play as I go with a skelleton of character concept. I also do not like to copy some other people's broken builds to beat this encounter). I am not sure, if this is the experience you want me to have.


My experience with this league so far in general is worse than starting fresh on standard.
