Krip quit the league on day 2. I'm actually happy for it

krip for those who dont know, is one of the first poe streamers back in the day. he helped popularize POE back during it's infancy.

somewhere along the way, he became more of heartstone streamer rather than focusing on POE but he does play a variety of games.

personally i dont find krip being too relevant as a poe streamer as there are many other poe streamers that are much more focused on poe.

that said, i am HAPPY that he quit.

why?

league mechanics have always been overbuffed. players always get wrecked by league mechanics.

in fact one unwritten rule that i live by for my POE career is "ignore league mechanics until mapping".

if you engage in league mechanic too early, theres a high chance of dying or frustration.

GGG has always over buffed league mechanics and tweaked it later. i can understand the whys but i m rather disappointed that this has become the norm.

could ggg implement a scaling system that makes league mechanics less stronger during campaign and steadily increased the difficulty and rewards later in game? yes they could. but they dont.

i find it frustrating that GGG stubbornly refuses to improve the early game experience and in fact makes it harder.

i find it highly ironic that in the patch where GGG introduced so many QoL improvements and gave players the most amount of CHOICE/OPTIONs in POE history (via atlas tree options), its the same patch which introduced FORCED league interaction mechanics.

ggg robbed players away of choice. in affliction i have always asked for an option for players to "release" wisps as wisps made the map encounters too hard for me. GGG did nothing but it was kind of fine as i could always clear the map first and run back later.

necropolis? nope no choice. you just have to do it.

the reason why i m happy that krip quit is because he's famous enough for GGG to finally take notice.

i can whine about league encounters being overtuned during campaign all i want but other players/ggg would just say i m whining. in a way krip's quitting validates this concern. its frustrating.

Oh I absolutely think they missed the mark on this league, in both the map/act mechanics as well as the crafting aspect of it.

The act and mapping mechanic..

100% should not be forced on anyone. Hardcore players are/were really under a lot of stress/pressure during the acts for ... really no reason. With some blatantly over tuned/unfair modifiers at that point in the game.

If you are softcore, yea I guess its a little bit annoying, but really shouldn't be this huge issue.

It still should not be enforced though. Should be a choice if you want to interact with it or not.

Reward wise,

The downsides dont necessarily translate to much upside. We add these modifiers to mobs but dont really get rewarded like one would think, its kind of us just giving and not receiving.

You sometimes can get some good stuff like, mobs are possessed but they are pretty rare.

Been watching streamers, Lily, Ghazzy, Ziz/Steel, Mathil, Grim, Artcrusader(YOU ARE ONE OF THEM NOW CONGRATZ DUDE!!!)

Seems to be a pretty majority opinion on this league and its mechanic so far even by high end career players.

They made a bunch of amazing changes for QOL and end game though.

Im powering through it on SSF, will see what happens with it not hoping for anything amazing.
Mash the clean
i actually am back on std now. thats the only option that i m willing to take at this point lol.

its a pity on what happened to necro, but damn did they do so many things right to poe at its core

Maybe if someone like him quit they will understand their league isn't good

Who im I kidding some of the mistake made should have been learned years ago. They wont learn shit.
Why am I still here
I barely noticed the league mechanic all thru the campaign. I think I died twice, mostly because of not paying attention.

It’s really a super chill league so far. Interested to see what the crafting is like in red maps in a day or so.

Sadly....this league is a combo of the WORST aspects of older leagues. So the lessons they "learned" were precisely the opposite of the correct lessons.

AN initial rollout post-league....overtuned and unrewarding. This league....same mechanic. Forced on everyone.

Harvest neutered down to its current form. This league....even WORSE than current harvest. Similar, yet WORSE than neutered fossil crafting.

Harvest garden management, removed for being unreasonable. This league....GRAVEYARD management. Terrible UI, wasted time, misclicks.

AN (and others) limited storage, removed/expanded. This league....limited storage is BACK!

PoE in general, lack of in-game information. This league....NO information. What does +50 to mod strength mean? Bad descriptions leading to wasted corpses.

I could keep going. Literally every aspect of this league mechanic is a failed aspect of older leagues. There is NOTHING new, and nothing positive. So you might get that elusive yellow mod "Monsters have 1% to drop a divine".....that and similar mods are nowhere near enough to be called a "positive" for this lantern mechanic.

*It's almost like the developers are purposely trying to "trick" us into accepting things that we (and THEY) didn't accept in the past. <---------tinfoil hat, on.
