New area encounters

So, it's the new encounters (ritual, corrupted altar, etc) one time only for each character, or is there some kind of timeout? Anybody has any knowladge of this? Because I got "areas contain ritual altars" description in Northern forest on every map but didn't get second one since the first one in 5 maps.
