Suggestion: Replace Heist rogue equipment with Passives.

The mechanic that makes me want to skip Heist every league is the gearing of the rogues. Unlocking all the rogues is fine, but gearing them all is one hoop too many for this exile. What if each rogue had their own passive tree / ascendancy? You could unlock the points by completing their quest contracts (giving them much needed purpose other than flavor).

In addition, a passive tree for Adiyah that revolves around QOL for Heisters: things like blocking certain layouts or rewards, or even a point that auto opens the non-rogue-gated doors!

The gear is being rolled the exact same for all heisters anyway right, job speed, job level, whatever. It feels much more GGG to give players a bunch of great choices on a passive tree and make the players choose between them.

Cheers exiles.

It would've been interesting, but unfortunately, no one will work on old league content again without very strong reasons, time is money.

Second, GGG hates everything deterministic, and wants to stick as much slot machine casino in the game as they can. It's not like they have any other retention driver these days - watching combat gets boring with the same broken OP builds in the lead as year ago. And the plot... Heist and expedition were last leagues including anything resembling plot and lore. So instead we crafted, we craft, we will craft...

They've even tried crangled passives if you remember, to turn even passive tree into slot machine, thank RNG that didn't took flight :)

So be glad that crafting heist gear is relatively cheap, lol, could have been worse.
Thanks for the explanation, I hadn't thought of these issues.

I realized I stopped heisting a few leagues back and think it's all because I don't want to do the gear setups. But, I think you're probably right that this will not change so NEW plan: I'll just buy the gear from other exiles.

There's so much they could have done with Heist but....its too late now.

Where are the UNIQUE gear options for our mercs, as one example?

When Heist league was happening, it made perfect sense to gather gear and roll it and spend all that extra time gearing up each and every one of our peeps. But when the league came back as core (and nerfed), this made less and less sense. They SHOULD have transitioned to individual simple passive trees with maybe a global paired passive tree....but thats a major overhaul of something thats way old now.

Just to interject about Krangled passives: this was a week-long event, and was EXTREMELY popular by event standards. GGG didn't "try" to do anything with it, they simply created an interesting event. Unfortunately they stopped short of truly krangling the krangled passive tree, which hopefully they will do in future events. Every new character gets a randomized tree.

If you didn't try that event, it is huge amounts of fun having to adjust your build every 10 levels or so based on complete randomness. Really tests your game knowledge and ability to think on the fly without an initial plan.
heist gear would be great if it was 'magic' only, 1 suffix, 1 prefix

it would still require some choices and provide diversity in viable options but would simplify it greatly. right now Heist is in weird shape: ultra-rare items, sea of literal crap and stacked decks (with a serious nerf to their value). almost ten rogues, 4 item slots, 4 affixes each. it is really a lot, with LOTS of filler/junk affixes. we fish for ~2 per gear anyway

or just remove gearing altogether and reuse the UI for animate guardian

Yes it was popular, and it also took away the last bits of common sense remaining in poe characters. Idk about others, but I want to have a character, with an archetype and style present, not layers upon layers of weird composing "it just kills stuff somehow" creature.

The whole concept of building also went out of the window, who cares about build when you've no idea what happens on next levelup? This kind of game is no longer an arpg, but rather a top-down mobile shooter where you find new random powerups on every "level" as in area, and your goal is reduced to just reaching the end of this level.
