Skill animation timing (feels clunky)
One of my biggest problems with PoE (apart from a camera zoom/angle being slightly weird, but that's for another thread) is that when I perform abilities the character cannot move or do anything else for too long, even after the ability has been performed.
For example, I use Cold Snap and my character stops and casts it (fine!), but once the ability is cast and the effect has landed and damage has been dealt... her animation continues for a while (lowering her arms or something) before I can even move or do anything else again. In my opinion, once the spell or ability has done its thing, let me move on. Let "cast speed" or similar attributes affect the cast time up to the point when the ability has had its effect. The animation could go on a bit if I choose to do nothing else than just stand around afterwards, just to make it look better and not "cut off", but don't force the character to stand still and do nothing until the animation ends. As it stands now, it feels very... clunky. Very noticable "pose to pose" which really breaks the flow, especially if you compare to others present and upcoming titles on the market (and of course I do because I'm a consumer!). I'd very much love to see an improvement in this area of the game. I understand devs want to force us into making choices in battles, as with everything else in the game (I love it!) but the move-cast-move command, indeed, feels more clunky than anything.
The suggestion the OP has given also sounds like a trick from WCIII/DotA called animation-cancel, which really worked great in the engine of the above-mentioned game. "Stick it with the pointy end."

I agree. And you explained it much better than I could have.
Anything to reduce unnecessary delay between certain actions would be good. Combat doesn't feel fluid and seamless right now and I think certain delays are one of the reasons for it, probably the main reason. That is not dead which can eternal lie.
And with strange aeons even death may die. |

Agreed, I would `thumb` up if I could

Glad to see I was understood and not alone in feeling this.
It feels a little like this is an area where graphics has gotten priority over gameplay (regarding animations having to finish completely before giving control back to the player). |

yeahe, cast to move delay is the biggest problem right now and it will be the number one reason why the new players stop playing after some minutes.
