Wildwood makes zero sense I doubt the devs even understand it.

This is the stupidest thing I ever played in PoE. This league is trash tier. It's just a glitch and abuse league because the devs didn't have time to test the league because they are too busy with PoE 2.
Wildwood is unfinished garbage. Everyone says there are 4 events. You want to hit these events and you get bonus wisps or more time to move around. But only one event seems to give bonus wisp. These are not even events. I just hit a "A spider egg event" Had a big spider mob. I got no bonus wisps and there was barley any wisps around it. Wisps always lead to the 4 nps. These are not events as they give no wisps. Events is a misleading word. There are 4 open areas the wisps lead to with one being a npc. It's all random except the trash tier npc every time. I watch so many videos and I have done this wildwood a thousand times and it still makes zero sense. O its a diamond path with 4 events and you should be able to get to 2 or 3 of the events. And if you get lucky you can get all 4 events. There are not 4 events. There are stupid things you might come across most of them offer nothing special. From my experience you do not want to look for any events. I get a good 3-5k wisps just trying to stay on wisp paths and avoid the events. It's purely random you can get screwed big time and start by no wisps and half the area has no wisps. You rarely ever get all three color of wisps. Your lucky if you can get a mix of two. Very rare to get like 2-3k of each color. Sometimes I try to force my way into getting a mix and you just get nothing then. You have to take what the stupid trash tier mode gives you. If you get 6,7,8k wisps you break the game and divines and everything will rain as long as you juiced and spent allot on your map. Juicing expensive maps and getting screwed over by wisps happens non stop for me. I am sure it happens to everyone. You can't invest allot into a map excited to play the map only to start the wildwood and be placed in a corner with no wisps and you then realize if you can't get 5-6k wisps your whole map and all the investment is ruined. You really focus and maybe you really want some yellow and blue wisps. You spend half your time in the wildwood and you finally hit a little purple. You realize that you are screwed from a trash tier mode. You get desperate and try to get as much of the purple wisp as you can because you have no other options. You end up with 3k purple and there is no point even running your map. You run it anyways sad and get nothing. Trash tier league. Last bumped on Jan 14, 2024, 8:12:13 AM

@OP (trying to be helpful): the bonus wisps are AROUND the events. They surround each big area in huge concentration. Plus, the more enemies you encounter the more wisps you get. Not sure how you haven't noticed that in the "thousands" of encounters you have had. But I'm sure that's because you were letting the videos do the thinking for you instead of....you know...paying attention and learning for yourself. I have yet to watch a single youtube video on "how" the wildwood works and...I figured it out by Act 3 on my first character. You don't need a guide, you just need to THINK. It is incredibly straightforward (EXCEPT for KotM stronghold). Plus you latched onto this "event" verbiage, likely from a video yet again instead of your own experience: they aren't really events. They are just big open areas with lots of monsters, or clickables, or wisps. The actual "events" like the Harvest boss, King, or the minibosses, yield almost nothing. I think some of if it is intuitive. Following wisps you see is pretty clear for trails. There are also indicators for wisps and their effects, I appreciate that I'm not needing to go to a wiki for this. The only thing I don't understand is the wildwood ascendancies, I'm not sure what exactly I need to do encounter denizens to get the ascendancy points or am I just getting unlucky.
There will always be optimization strategies that you will need videos for, but the basic understanding of the mech should always be clear. Honestly, a mini tutorial would not be a bad idea similar to delve, but the league isn't in the new stage anymore and I doubt it's going core so it becomes questionable if it's even worth it. I'm curious for where the meter is showing how much you can continue exploring, just a quick reveal of the location for the meter if there is one would be nice. |
