King of Mist's doesn't feel great
|
So first off, finding this guy is annoying, tedious, and completely random. A lot of players are cheating by using maphacks to find it... figure that out I guess.
Then if you ever find him, you see six portals and can think, "great I can try out this new boss, I don't need to look up a guide and can enjoy the game" Then you get a green affliction that is ticking down, You mouse over to read it (I guess if you are on console good luck) and stopping to read it made me get rooted inside a degen and die instantly (because Degen deaths feel so good and responsive) then when you get to the second phase it drops you inside a degen field sometimes. Then in the last phase he spawns all this purple gunk that is nearly impossible to see, and degens you. If you are going to give us six portals let us use them, or at least let us react to stuff without dying first. It just feels bad because if he didn't have like 12 ways to kill you in sub 1 second it would be fine. Speaking as a player with no armour, chaos inoculation and 6 k energy shield, 4 endurance charges with solaris so like 30% of the top and like 60k evasion. 12 absorption charges for ele damage and full suppression/ghost dance wind dancer Last bumped on Jan 17, 2024, 6:59:18 PM

" Dude easy doesn't mean good or well designed. I didn't say he was hard. Just not great or bad. Imagine a red green colorblind person trying to figure out if the debuff is stop or keep moving. Especially when he doesn't voice them. Bad bad design. And I am 100% sure I died once to his debut while doing the correct action anyway. Also he is annoying to find. I just run in the wildwood. |

If you have to bring up invalid people to make an argument you are not being very inclusive to be honest. Accessibility in PoE could go a long way, but I'd rather they add features specifically for colour blind people rather than arbitrarily changing colour schemes for boss fights.
I make it a habit of turning off character effects that show on the ground / hide auras so that I can see the red light/green light better too, but that doesn't make the boss 'bad' imo. And if you know what you are looking out for you can also check the debuff bar which also literally tells you which effect is going on with a timer. The fight really isn't difficult, doesn't have map mods / wisp empowerment.. what else could you want. In fact, just 5 minutes ago I killed the boss on a fresh level 86 character without any issues. Yeah if you're literally running around in wildwood no wonder you can't find him lol
And no wonder you're dying because you don't know any mechanics of it. Dys an sohm

" Right, so what has ggg revealed about finding the stronghold... Nothing, players make up all kinds of theories but no one really knows. Wandering around is all you can do and find clearings. There are no tells where it could be. Some people say the wisps lead to him, some say he is never near them. Complete RNGfest of a mechanic either way. It is a feedback forum and I am just saying it feels bad. |
|
" It only looks like an RNG-fest to someone whom doesn't know too much about the mechanic yet, trust me. No trails lead to the king's encounter, and he pertains to the center of the area. One part of reliably finding the king is determining in which part of the forest you are in because the layout, save for some varying tree formations, doesn't change. Essentially the area is a giant diamond with fixed spawn locations and events. The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

I'll be honest the Move/Dontmove mechanic feels terrible and gimicky.
Also his voicelines all sounds the same so it is difficult to tell what he is doing by audio queues which is usually a reliable indicator of dangerous boss moves. From a raw design standpoint it feels bad. |
|
|
His voicelines are pretty indistinct I agree, its usually a part GGG are particularly good at as well I suspect the theme got in the way of their usual superior audio clarity (I can't see shit on my build so its important)

" I made mention of this with my fiance and after a brief discussion, I'm very curious to know something: When you say the spawn locations and events are fixed, do you mean you always find the same POIs in the same exact location every single time? Here's a crappy MSPaint drawing I made which I think represents what you're talking about. ![]() If I'm understanding you correctly, whatever spawns in the topmost corner will ALWAYS be there? Let's assume it's the Warden of Eaves. Does this mean that if I happen to find her, I just need to go straight down to find the center? PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! And the winds will cry / and many men will die / and all the waves will bow down / to the Loreley |
