Problems with Performance of PoE
Hello,
i build a new pc with following hardware: - Ryzen7 7800x3D - Asus TUF Gaming X670e-Pro Wifi - 64GB DDR5 G.Skill Ram with CL30 Timings - Radeon RX6950XT from XFX - 2x2TB NVMe SSD (SN850X from WD) - Seasonic Focus GX-850W My Problem is, if i change locations, it can happen that it is verry laggy, i go back to the town of the act and everything is fine. I go back to the laggy area and it laggs again. Only a restart of PoE is changing that issue. Can me someone help? I don't find the solution. the hardware should be more then enough for poe. Many thanks in advance. Last bumped on Jan 27, 2024, 2:16:47 PM

Your setup looks awesome at first glance, so it's a bit weird that you're having performance problems. Either way, got some questions for you:
- Is PoE the only game you're having trouble with? If [YES] > The game's engine got updated 3 leagues ago with Path of Exile 2 particle system. Here's the link to the patch: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3406424 " Since then, there has been a lot of complaints about the game's poor performance on many setups, from low to high end builds. Apparently it's a bit of lottery whether the user gets these performance issues or not, but the summary is that GGG hasn't found yet a fix for them. The problem is that the CPU takes the heaviest weight at generating shaders as well as taking a hefty sum of RAM space. But I know you want to find a solution. I'll name a few that it reportedly worked for some people. Fix #1: Uninstall PoE, then delete ALL the related folders they were installed on, such as myDocuments > My Games > Path of Exile; %appdata% > Roaming > Path of Exile or Grinding Gear Games; Program Files (x86) > Grinding Gear Games. If you want to make sure you've finished, run the Windows Cleanup Tool to erase any leftover from the folders. Reboot, then install the game again. Once you start playing, the game will being generating shaders, but according to GGG it's intentional and it will take some time, so expect the game running a bit slow upon entering new areas. Fix #2: Experiment with Dx11, Vulkan or Dx12. Some people with high-end setups often report having better results running PoE in Dx12, so that may be your case. If it didn't help, try Dx11 and disabling Engine Multhreading (this option seems to be bugged for some reason). Keep in mind that if you've tried Fix #1 prior, PoE will keep generating the shaders it needs, thus rendering the game slower than it's meant to be. If it is your case, be a little patient until you can find positive results. Fix #3: There's a possibility that you're running the game under a bottleneck. A strong CPU/GPU combo can actually perform slower in certain scenarios, like playing a game in low graphical settings, for instance. I mention this because the first thing many of us do when a game is performing poorly is to downgrade settings in order to make it work. I don't know if that's your case, but there's no harm on checking. If neither of these worked for you, you can try some of the next fixes (even if you said [YES]). If [NO] > How's the performance looking when you play other games? Check your CPU/GPU's temperatures, fans and/or cooling system. I used to run a program called MSI Afterburner, which keeps temperatures in check thanks to the automatic fan usage system, and it also had some useful functions like overclocking or a power saving mode for your PSU. Run this benchmark: https://benchmark.unigine.com/heaven If there's any component overheating, there's a possibility that it's faulty. > Also this is a small and silly question, but do you have your PSU plugged to a powerstrip? There was a time where my -old- PC wouldn't get all the power and the performance was inneficient because it was plugged to a powerstrip. This probably won't have nothing to do with your problem, but you can try plugging your PSU to an outlet to see if it works. Speaking of PSU. Your PC not only has a power-saving mode that activates automatically for your PSU, but also for many other of your components. Yes, even your Network Adapter. You can try disabling some of these alternatively, but be mindful of the power consumption. > When was the last time you have done a cleanup format for your SSD? If it's been quite a while, you might want to perform one. Also, on the matter of storage - How's your overall storage space? If there are programs or games you're not using, you may want to free some space. > Since when was the last time you performed an antivirus/malware scan? There's a possibility that there's a program that's intentionally slowing your PC, therefore performing a scan would be a good advice here. - Is your current setup recent? Have you had these performance issues with a previous setup? - Does the lag always occur when entering new areas? Last edited by SolaireZenith#5485 on Jan 4, 2024, 11:21:01 AM

Thx for you replay.
I have that problems only every third map. So 2 maps are no problem after loadingscreen but mostly the third or fourth then i have that issues. if i press f1 to see the fps and timings, my fps are betweeen 140-300 fps. so the card is working. it is just i click somewhere and my char replay with moving after one second. that is rly anyoing. i did a clean reinstall of win and all drivers of my hardware, sadly nothing worked for me. |

if it is just each other map/instance then it is server and routing related and there is nothing you can do. also if you play on EU this problem is known since long long time but it looks like GGG can only do so much to handle this problem.

Hi,
I had same problem. Solution which help me: Ingame Option - Sound - Channel Count set to Low And my 100% CPU Usage is away :-) Try it |
