Newb question about not bricking my selffound lightning coil

Hey guys, completely new to POE and started with SRS Guardian build. Now found the needed chest myself with 3 sockets (gren-red-green). First socket needs to be blue obviously since SRS is a blue gem. So I thougt use the bench with "at least 2 blue sockes" and hope 1 of 2 blue is the first socket? Or ist there a btter way?

On a side note: Does it matter in what order all the following support gems go? Melee splash and elemental damage with attacks are both red and unleash, elemental focus, minion damage are blue. If order not matter it would make it lots easier to hit the right colors.

Order does not matter at all for skill and support gems unless you are doing specific cast when damage taken stuff.

The SRS gem could be the bottom right link and it doesnt matter. Just as long as everything is linked.

Adding or deleting sockets with a bench recipe (= set # sockets to 1-6) keeps colors and links of existing sockets.
Order is from top left to right bottom.
By the way that can be the cheapest way to get many off colors.

It doesnt make sense to change a 2hd weapon or breast armour if it has no 6s (= 6 sockets).
Exception is while leveling and you don't have enough jewelers and it is a 4L or 5s.
Else buy a 6s (best 5L) for 1+ chaos.

If u use jewelers pay attention that ilvl is high enough for 6s.
(Think it was ilvl 50 or 55)

Read wiki "sockets", "ilvl" and maybe "bench crafting".

I thought about it and I would need to roll 2 blue on the first 2 sockets anyway because the 2 sockets cannot be changed anymore (when switching 2/3 sockets recipe back and forth afterwards). Well I guess then my selffound lighting coil is useless and I have to buy one. Sad.

If you propose to buy a 6s with 5L are you talking about getting a rare chest then? Because Lightning coil with 6s (4 blue, 2 red) and only 4L is already 3 divine and up. But then a 6s with 6L is only 3 Chaos. So then I can get rather a rare with 6L for a couple of chaos more.

Maybe later if going for Lightning coil would it be cheapest to do it this way: get a 4 blue socket one (off-colors) via trade, then get the 2 red sockets with 5/6 socket recipe from bench. Since it is a dex/str item red is a non-off color which should not take to many tries. And then spend fusing to get the 6L? I guess my 60 fusings I own will not be enough lol. Before increasing the item to 20% quality I read increases the chance slightly.

Are these the best chances? I have not much curreny, not even close to a divine orb. ;)
