A noob in need of help
Hi, I hope you have a wonderful day in PoE.
I'll make it short, I know you veterans are short on time. I started following a the Flicker Strike "build" from MageFist but I am stuck at a bottleneck and can't seem to advance. My build : https://pobb.in/Dq3d7rMq1Qd3 I am getting oblitirated on red maps (alched+corrupted). I feel like I have no defense whatsoever, I have a hard time against single targets because I can't sustain frensy charges efficiently and my crit is low some player (bless their soul for the advice they gave me) told me. So, I am kinda stuck in this weird loop of not being able to advance my atlas hence not being able to have a stable income in currency to better the build. Is there a possibility to salvage the character or do I have to league start another build entirely ? Thanks in advance. Last bumped on Dec 27, 2023, 8:21:46 PM

Your atlas progression has very little to do with the currency you are making.
Red maps arent a wonderland where currency just drops left, right and center. Drop a few tiers lower, do league mechanics you enjoy and are able to clear and sell those drops on the market - in bulk if you can. Make money that way, buy upgrades and try again. In its current state your build will get destroyed in red maps. There is no point in trying. Give it another shot when you can sustain your frenzies as well as crit and deal some 2M dps. |

Flicker Strike isn't very new player friendly. Usually requires expensive gear to be good. & even then throwing yourself at mobs face 1st isn't new player friendly.
Yet still possible if you want to keep going with that. I've switched my build a few times. If you do ever want to switch builds to something tankier. Just lvl with any skill, with a party, for any maps. Find regret orbs and save chaos for more regret orbs. Should take a few days to save for a full reset as you lvl. Yet it may not be the skills fault as my smite build is destined for 90 max ele res and 90 max phy defense and I'm still presently dying often at lvl 84. Yet I don't have my ele resist gear yet. So it's not always the passives fault. Maybe just try following other people for parties till you hit lvl 90. Then return to mid tier maps solo to farm loot. 100 people towns with hang out fields. Witcher taverns. Free hair style options. IRO War of Emperium gvg map. https://clips.twitch.tv/ChillyFrailLobsterPMSTwin-jQe3D4Yt2ZttgsdA https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/15cetf5/new_frigid_bond_support_love_u_guys/ Last edited by RuneLuthien#3437 on Dec 27, 2023, 1:00:09 PM

Ok, if I get it right, the problem is with the way I am seeing things rather than there being a problem with the build.
If I may, how can you use a farming strat without having enough atlas points to boost the actual farming start ? That's what I have trouble with understanding. Is there a farming strat (even if it's a slow one) that doesn't require all atlas points in ? Sorry for my lack of knowledge. |

If you can get enough points to get all the essence nodes, stream of consciousness and then run tier one maps that will be pretty consistent returns. Essences dont care about map tier so you are free to run as easy content as you want while still generating wanted currency every map.
At your gear level you might run into a few turbo juiced essences that give you trouble even at a low level but its ok to have to skip an essence every now and then while building currency. Throw in rare corrupted strongboxes and the scarab node on strongboxes and you will get decent enough returns (at your level) for basically no investment. |

Use this as inspiration:
https://maxroll.gg/poe/category/currency Check out starter strats and pick one your build can handle. You can always switch later to any other strat requiring a stronger build and/or more currency investment to get the strat started. For now you want to run any "alch&go" strat based on a mechanic your build can handle and you enjoy enough to run it for as long as it takes. |

Red corrupted maps have a much higher chance to roll dangerous mods than rare yellow maps.
I doubt the items from red are so much better than from yellow especially if the map level (= item level) is not 83+. Or you can do red as "easily" and fast as yellow. So do some red or end bosses after leveling up to reduce loosing xp else do yellow ones and collect currency and items. If fun is not the main factor :-) And don't delete a high level character as a beginner. If it is too expensive to chanbge it to another build wait until next league start. You get always a free complete tree respec option when next league starts. And you can have 24? characters without buying more. Last edited by Jerexil#5282 on Dec 27, 2023, 8:27:25 PM
