Factions? Mailboxes? Etc... OH MY...
|
So as I mentioned in my previous post, I haven't bought the closed beta key yet, as this is my 2nd day checking out this place. I have a few questions that I'm hoping will get answered :)
1) Are there factions in this game? You know like in Rift there's the Guardians and Defiants, WoW has the Horde and Alliance, EQ2 has the "Good" and "Evil" factions, etc... 2) Is there mail in this game? Can I mail stuff to friends and, more importantly, can I mail stuff to my alts that I create? 3) This is sort of a continuation of question 2, in EQ2, if I wanted to send something to my alt, I just put it in my bank tab, logged out and logged back into my alt. The banks were shared across the same account. Do we have such a banking system here to store excess stuff; mats, potions, etc... 4) Do we have crafting ingame? And if so, is it modeled after the EQ2 dangerous, you can get your ass killed model or the "modern" no thinking, press a button and you're all done safe model? 5) How are the graphics in game? What gaming engine is GGG using? Is it comprable to Rift's Embryoengine or Tera's Unreal Engine 3 or is it more similar to EQ2's engine? K so I'm a wee bit shallow when it comes to this - I like a very aesthetically looking game. 6) Mounts?? Ground, flying, both, none?? 7) I see we have pets - and I like that - I like to collect pets and mounts. 8) Do we have guilds in game? Guild houses? Player houses? Do the devs have any plans for receiving meaningful benefits for being in a guild? 9) WoW, not sure what else to ask. Feel free to add :) Thanks The Pope quit, a meteor fell on Russia, an
asteroid came close to the earth, there's snow in Arizona, star wars and star trek have the same director! Who the hell is playing jumanji? | |

1) No faction, this is not one of those games..
2) No mail atm, but I'm guessing they may add it later on. 3) Yes the bank is share by all of your characters. 4) Haven't played EQ2, so idk. 5) I believe that GGG use their own game engine. Want to know what the game look like? Go to youtube and type Path of Exile..... (it's not that hard) 6) No mounts....yet? 7) It's not a pokemon type of game... 8) No guild 9) Is 1 + 1 = 11? |

|
1. no
2. not yet 3. there is currently shared stash slots between characters in the same league (default, hardcore, cutthroat, ironman, etc) 4. not in the conventional sense of MMORPG crafting at least, most of the highly valued currency is used to create and drastically alter gear see currencies http://www.pathofexile.com/item-data/currency 5. GGG has created their own engine and the production is incredibly surprising for such a small company, it really has that D2 feeling (if thats what you are looking for) 6. Waypoints, D2/D3 style. 7. Kiwi pet is limited edition and will be discontinued when the OB begins I believe hopefully there will be more pets. 8. Not sure they have made any plans about the guilds, because they will pretty much be meaningless until really high-end content is released or PvP becomes as serious and awesome as I hope it does. 9. your welcome Father...Father, The Sleeper Has Awakened!

" So then pvp is consentual then?? If I don't flag myself for pvp, I have nothing to worry about being ganked by some fool while trying to quest? I don't pvp and hate it. I like to pve and do dungeons. " K so it follows the EQ2 model :) " LMAO!!! I wasn't referring to WoW and their "new" pokemon system rofl!!! I was wondering if there were cute little pets that follow you around. I saw that after you buy different levels, you get a cute kiwi bird. So I was wondering if you got other cute pets from doing quests, achievements, etc... " It could be in my twisted, demented world. Also, do we have fishing, cooking, archaeology, etc... being thought about being added to the game unless it's already in there? Waypoints are good. Also, I read that the camera is an aerial shot very much like in D3 - can we change that or is it "stuck" that way. Also, I don't remember reading but is this a FPS game or a tab target game? Thanks again :) The Pope quit, a meteor fell on Russia, an

1) As far as I know, No. All players are on the same "side".
2) I have not read much about what GGG is going to implement but currently there's nothing like that. 3) The stash in this game is much like the one in TitanQuest and Diablo, except that all tabs in your stash are "shared" ones. Additional tabs can be bought through microtransactions for a small sum. 4) Uh, sort of. This game sports a different ´crafting´ system. You trade X amounts of certain items to a vendor and you get something special back. For example, trading an Iron Ring with a Red Skill Gem will give you a new ring that has fire resistance on it. 5) Probably a custom built engine. I don't know. The game, in my opinion, looks just great. The graphics are there and it does its job nicely. 6) No. This game has nothing like that. Well, waypoints I guess. 7) The Kiwi is closed-beta-supporter-only. Maybe they'll add more pets later on, who knows. 8) I'm not really sure if they'll implement guilds, or maybe I missed the memo. There'll be played-owned Leagues though. 9) This game is in the same genre as Diablo, Titan Quest, Baldur's Gate, Dungeon Siege, Torchlight, etc etc. |

All of your game examples are from a different genre.
I believe you have the wrong idea of what kind of game this is. PoE is along the lines of Diablo & Torchlight, not EQ, WoW, Tera ect. "A tool knows exactly how it is meant to be handled, while the user of the tool can only have an approximate idea." -Milan Kundera

" Not really, although there is a very limited form of "factions" during 1 of the quests, where you can choose who to support for a different reward. Other than that, no factions yet. " There is no mail system. There is of course a friends list and the ability to whisper to friends. Giving items to your alts is very easy. You start out with 4 stash tabs (and each tab is about 3-4 times as large as the stash in Diablo 2) and all of your stash tabs are shared between your characters (24 character slots per account) Right now the only way to give items to your friends is to join a party with them and drop the items on the ground. There are plans for a trading system obviously, it just hasn't been added to the beta yet. " Yep, 4 stash tabs that are shared between all characters on your account, plus you can purchase additional tabs using the cash-shop points. " There is no traditional crafting in the game, but the currency system in this game is a form of random crafting. There are tons of different orbs that can be used in various ways to modify or improve your items. Even non-magical white items can be turned into powerful rare items if you use the right orb or a combination of several orbs. " I have no idea how it compares to Rift and I don't know what engine they have used, but the visuals are excellent for an action RPG. Even on the lowest texture setting, the textures on characters, enemies and the environment are much higher-resolution than I was expecting. Most spell effects and skill animations are very satisfying to the eye as well. " No mounts and I don't know that they will ever be added, but anything is possible, since the game is not yet finished. Keep in mind that this is primarily an action game, and not an MMO. " The pets are only for show and do not help you in combat. This is because the cash-shop will only sell cosmetic items and convenience items, to prevent players from "buying" power in-game. However there are several skill gems in the game that allow you to summon minions to fight for you. " No guilds yet but it might be something that gets added later on. Player housing is not likely to ever be added, but a guild house could be a possibility. Again, this game is not an MMO, although it is online only. " I'de just like to say that this game may be lacking a lot of the features that MMOs have, but it still has a very deep skill system, fast-paced combat, and excellent randomly generated items. On top of that, it has the most interesting currency system I have ever seen in a game. Finding piles of gold all over the place was never that exciting to me, but the powerful and rare orbs that Path of Exile uses for currency ARE exciting as hell to find, especially the rarest types. I pre-purchased cash-shop points for $100, haven't spent a single point (well there are only 2 items in the shop right now: stash tabs and player slots) and yet I have already played over 120 hours of the game and still find myself coming back for more every day. :D |

Your questions all seem to have the underlying assumption that this game is an MMO. it is not, its an Arpg.
In Wraeclast, if someone tries to kill you... you just kill them right back.

" Ah, so this is kinda of like a single-player game set to an MMO setting??? As I beta tested D3 and it's a single player game unless I missed something :) The Pope quit, a meteor fell on Russia, an

" Nailed it. ZOMG ITS BETA TIME!
